Fletcher Hotel-Restaurant Middelburg, in the heart of Zeeland, was originally the central fortress in the defence line built to protect the island of Walcheren more than a thousand years ago. The hotel, a special hotel in classic style and the oldest hotel in Zeeland, is located in the city centre – once a major port of the Dutch East India Company during the Netherlands’ Golden Age. Helpful staff, great breakfast, cleanliness, nice bar and the handy location for the towm, restaurants and bars. breakfast, slowly elevator :). location and staff. Friendly staff, cleanliness and wonderful breakfast. It appeared that the place had been renovated. I had a 3rd floor room that was far better than the 5th floor rooms I had on previous visits. Breakafast very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Single beds are not so good. The bed covers are too heavy; I would prefer a simpler bedspread. Not all electrical outlets worked. Still, I would stay here again.

For over 100 years, the Hotel-Restaurant Du Commerce has provided guests with a welcoming atmosphere. Located on a quay, across from Middelburg’s Central Station, and within a few minutes’ walk of the historic city centre and all the major points of interest, the Hotel-Restaurant Du Commerce is Middelburg’s largest and oldest hotel.
The interior decoration, such as the beautiful landings and chandeliers, reflect our careful attention to detail.

As an extra courtesy, guests are welcome to make use of the amenities at the Zuiderduin Beach Hotel. These include a sauna, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness equipment and the services offered by the award-winning Zuiderduin Beach Club.

Important information to guests

Please note that pets are not allowed in the restaurant and in the breakfast area. Children can be accommodated at a surcharge. Baby cots can be rented for EUR 10 per night. An extra bed can be added for EUR 25. These fees need to be paid at the accommodation during check in. Guests can bring their own baby cot, free of charge.
