The price was the main point, but also how it compares to in relation to other 2/3* hotels in the Benelux which is very good, quite individual. Also good location for someone who wants to be in the centre of Maastricht. Would certainly stay again. The hotel was clean, the evening reception staff was wonderful, and overall the hotel was a great value.the different rooms. all reviews »
Very good location right at the river, in the city centre. Terrace belonging to our room. Reasonable price for Maastricht. Nice decor; all rooms are quite individual.The style from the reception area/bar was a shock; it was very attractive. it was near to the city and Maas river and the train station, too. The staff was very friendly. The hostess, very friendly and efficient. The location is great , a few minutes walk from main attractions, restaurants and shopping.Tthe decoration in the restaurant and each room, special and charming.Nicely situated, helpful staff, orignal rooms. Room and bar were nicely decorated, shower good.View of Maas river from room. Room was clean and good size. Fresh towels and bath robs every day. Although the bath was shared it was kept clean and well supplied at all times.it was nice and there was no nose. the morning shift staff is very friendly and helpful.Close to city centre. Cheap. The location was good.the room looked pretty. The TV wasn't tuned in, although each room came with a DVD player which is handy. The main improvement would be for them to serve breakfast earlier. It starts at 9am, which when your there on business is just too late. So earlier breakfasts in the midweek at least.It was a bit difficult to find the hotel late at night due to the lack of a sign. The room (zebra room) was very, very small; the terrace made up for it, but in times during which it cannot be used (winter, bad weather) I can imagine the room to become quite claustrophobic. There was not even space to put luggage, hang clothes etc. However, not all rooms are that small; most (all?) other rooms seemed to be significantly larger.In comparison to the aesthetic appeal of the bar our actual room was extremely underwhelming. Rooms are quite noisy. Building noise, which was going on behind the wall of my room and actually meant I had to make earplugs. VERY loud, and I wasn't warned (presumably this was why the room was half-price but it would have been nice if someone had told me that). Luckily I was only staying one night and was out a lot. Stairs not conducive to carrying large suitcases upstairs (too narrow)Also, no screens on windows meant lots of misquito bites at night.My room was on the 3rd floor of this no elevator hotel, it was extremely difficult to carry luggage through the very narrow stairway. No help provided by the staff. The room was hot, and the decor (Versace) not practical: curtains get caught on the door and obscure the already poor light. I would prefer a simpler but more practical design, like good lighting and a ceiling fan. the way the room was decorated. Room quality should be better for the rate being charged. The welcome could have been warmer. Apparantly a lot of guests had smoked in the rroom (althogh there seems to be a non-smoking policy and I had asked for a non-smoking room).Building work next door, shared shower and toilet (smell). Had to paycash. Room was creepy with buddha picture staring into bed. The staff were very rude, the room although the staff claim the hotel to be non-smoking, smelt very strongly of smoke which made our stay unpleasant as the staff did not care when we told them and did not do anything to help. The rooms have been designed in all different themes, but done very cheaply and look tacky.The hotel just opened, but wasn't ready to give guest the service they expect. The room had no wardrobe, no soaps or shampoo, no hooks to hang our coats. Breakfast was extremely poor: the eggs were boiled the night before... Juice wasn't fresh, there was no possibility to toast the bread. A youth hostel serves better breakfast!.
