The Ambassade Hotel is situated in 10 original 17th-century canal-side mansions along the Herengracht and Singel which is part of the Canal Belt. It offers free WiFi, 2 lifts and unique rooms featuring luxurious décor combining art works from the famous 1950’s-CoBrA movement with Louis XV furnishing. Each air-conditioned room includes satellite TV, a seating area and a work desk. Guests receive a discount on sessions and combined massages offered at Koan Float, the hotel’s floatation center. On the first floor Brasserie Ambassade is run by Executive Chef Erik Zonjee and his brigade, who specialize in the classic French cuisine. In this Brasserie, decorated by art works and chandeliers and overlooking the canal, each morning a breakfast buffet including a variety of hot dishes cooked to order is being served. Dam Square, featuring the Royal Palace, is 600 meters away from the hotel. The Kalverstraat shopping area is a 5 minutes walk and also Anne Frank’s House and the great Museums are close by.

Very old world and full of personality. Staff was fantastic and very helpful. Food is wonderful, not run of the mill hotel menu. Hotel is on quiet canal, although right downtown. Easy to walk around to get anywhere. The personnel is very friendly and professional. Breakfast and breakfast room are great. Once in our room, we felt like living in your own charming appartment in one of the best spots in Amsterdam.

My room was on the ground floor and I could hear traffic and people talking outside. But since it was a quiet street, this didn't matter too much. I also didn't like that we couldn't keep our keys. Since the staff are so helpful, they spend a fair amount of time with each customer, and therefore you sometimes have to wait in line for a while.Parking is difficult to find. No tea/coffe making facilities in the room.They did not have an open kitchen 24 hours like they said.

The Ambassade Hotel can easily be reached by car: from direction Utrecht follow "Amstel" and then "Stadhouderskade", turn right by the Heineken Brewery and then, after crossing 5 canals, turn left.
From the airport: follow the ringroad (A10) in the direction "Leeuwarden", take exit S105 and drive to "Centrum"(Centre). Turn right on Herengracht and make a U-turn at the 3rd bridge.
Public transport: from Central Station take tram 1 or 2 or 5 to the 3rd stop ("Spui"). Take the first corner right, go through the alley between 2 café's, cross Singel-canal and when reaching Herengracht, go right. The hotel is located 50 meters further at nr 341.
