Madina Mayurqa is the ideal riad. It is furnished simply and beautifully, and feels more like home than hotel. Mme Leki, the manager, is a lovely human being. The riad is ideally located near the Place Rahba Kedima, which comes to feel like your own private, far less hectic Jemaa el-Fna. It is close enough for ease of access to everything, but far enough to feel like the perfect hideaway. If you come to Marrakech, stay here.
all reviews » The Riad Mayurqa is a place which is definitely worth recommending. Near the heart of Medina – Jama el Fna square, very cosy interior with nicely decorated rooms. The lady which takes care of the riad and hosts is very warm and helpful person, speaking mostly French. The riad is owned by Spanish couple, who we had a pleasure to meet. The stay at riad guarantees great memories from Marrakech. - The hostess is a miracle of hospitality (and makes wonderful tajines on request) - All rooms look beautyful, with their own colour scheme - The breakfast is nice (sometimes with other guests, all at the same table) - From the sunny roof terrace you can overlook most of the city (as you're in the middle of it), while inside it's cool and shady - It's just very fantastic. We stayed 3 nights.The riad is 5 minutes from the big square which is great.The airco in the room is a bless. The room was cosy and it was very quiet. Decor, traditional layout, sun terrace, staff nice and helpful, price is very good. Once located the location is great for souks and main city attractions. The ladies that take care of the riad are great. - You'll have to get used to the dark alley in which the riad is (but you will). You need to walk several times to the riad to learn the way back. It was a bit chilly, yet there were plenty of blankets...the shared bathroom didn't have a lock and had a window in the door so using the toilet wasn't so private!. No signs in front or on top of door. No guidance from staff on how to find the riad from the maze of the medina. Hard to find without help from staff. Hard beds. Shared toilet a bit embarrassing as connects to dining area - others can hear everything and there is a hole in the door! Wi-fi is accessible only in part of the house not all as on details. Bedroom would have benefitted from a mirror and bin. Moisture and mold everywhere, it's impossible to breath. Really hard to find, there was supposed to be someone waiting for us( as we agreed before at the telephone ) but there was not; there was no bathroom door and there were holes in the room door so there is no privacy; I would advise couples to choose accomodation outside of the medina. If you like to enter in a cave that is not indicated in any map (so impossible to reach without a local guide) and doesn't have the name of the "hotel" (so you are not sure you are in the right place), this is the place for you. Enjoy.
