Can't speak highly enough about the experience of staying in Riad Atlas Toubkal. Plenty of character, good views and very helpful riad staff. Breakfast just kept on coming and the evening meal didn't disappoint. Please note the riad is close to the bridge in Imlil and not further up the valley as Google Maps suggest. A short summary of the area follows – It’s possible to take a grand taxi from Marrakech to Imlil (£35 each way) or if staying overnight you can ask the riad, in advance, to arrange.
all reviews » First we went to Dar Imlil, for passing to our riad Atlas Toubkal (Same owner).But there was a big spring clean work at our riad and they said we'd been upgraded to a better room with better conditions. This free upgrade was a great suprise for us. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It is in an amazing location. We thought 100dh for a dinner was too much, but it was a big mistake because it was a huge dinner and the best all around (maybe the best we had at the whole Morocco trip). The location was amazing, peaceful and regenerating. Our room had a small balcony from which you could see the mountains. The view from the terrace was stunning as well. Incredible value for what we spent for the room and the rich breakfast. Moreover we spent 100 dirham per person for an unforgettable dinner. The staff was friendly and attentive. We booked the room for the hammam after an entire day up in the mountain and we had the place for the two of us only and for as long as we wanted and . This place was amazing! Fantastic value for money, nice hosts, wonderful dinner and breakfast. The view in the dining room is something you would be paying big bucks for in Australia or NZ these days.. Same goes for the view we had out our bedroom window. We had a steam bath ( which we requested the day before as they need to heat it up): was totally relaxing and just what we needed.. My partner and I both had colds, so weren't so keen to hike, so a relaxing steam bath was perfect :). Although most staff could not speak very good English they were extremely friendly, attentive and helpful. Rooms came with aircon and wifi which was a welcome surprise and had amazing views of the Atlas Mountains. Breakfast and evening meals were average but nonetheless excellent value for money. Make sure you take advantage of complimentary mint tea and accompanying sweet nuts and biscuits - very yummy! Generally we would definitely recommend a stay here!. Wow, value for money this was the best stay on our whole trip. Staff was really friendly. Good rooms with a view and a little personal terrace. A big rooftop terrace with a great breakfast and view. We took a dinner, which needs to be reserved in advance. For 100Dh per person, this was pretty cheap for 3 well cooked courses. In Imlil, dining options are not that big, at least not in clean establishments, so really try the hotel dinner. Imlil is a stunning location and this Riad is a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area and Toubkal ascent. Our room was of a very high standard with mountain views and our meals were excellent. Abdoul was very helpful and arranged a guided trip up Toubkal, which was excellent. We very much enjoyed our hamman on our return back down the mountain which is possibly at the adjoining riad. Highly recommended!. The staff were extremely helpful, honest, genuine and friendly. The setting in the mountains has spectacular views from the roof terrace. They organised minibuses for transfers and day trips. They also organised a guide and mule for a longer day trek. The breakfast was generous and delicious. All our group (aged 6 to 61) had a marvellous time. A very friendly, family riad. It's very comfortable, has spacious rooms with everything you need and a great view on top. Since this riad is located up the hill and away from the road, it's impossible to find. The easiest way is to call the riad and to ask them to send someone to meet you at the bridge, once in Imlil. This Riad was incredible! We would happily have paid double or triple the price-- amazing value for a beautiful, comfortable, helpful, and friendly stay. Do yourself a favor and stay here! Absolutely the best place to stay in Imlil, and so affordable!. Waking up to the mountain views was spectacular. Walking options from here were varied and plentiful. The Riad served a large healthy breakfast and should you want dinner it was very nice. A small run place good for a short overnight stay. Can't really put anything negative. The room was a bit dusty. Nothing!. If you don't want to spend a few days walking, the town of Imlil is not very nice in particular. Also, the trail (it's not close to the road) has a lot of stairs and up-hill walking, so if you have small children or not in very good health, getting to the riad might be a challenge. Imlil is a small mountain village that appears to have seen more travellers previously. Today it's awash with empty cafés, riads and gift shops which gives it a ghost town like feel. Focus now appears to be on emptying travellers pockets rather than offering a pleasant experience. Fine as a base for walking but was pleased to leave. The riad was a bit difficult to find initially but we asked in the riad below and a member of staff took us to our riad - they have the same owner so don't bother trying to find it yourself just ask in Dar Imlil. Nothing really, I suppose dinner was a bit more expensive than we thought. A little chilly in the evening, could have done with another wood burner. There are alot of steps to climb just to get to the front door of the hotel. If you are fit, a walker or just nimble this would be OK some of steps are just mud/earth ridges others are man made steps but no rail or barriers. I am retired and have injury to ankle so was a bit of a struggle but worth the effort!. It should be stated that the Riad can be found by going to Dar Imlil and asking for Riad Atlas Toubkal. There really is no other way to find it otherwise. Imlil itself is very quiet and there is very little to do apart from trek. It is good for a day or two only. some carpets and umbrella on the roof terrace would have been nice as shown in the pictures. The roof terrace was very spacious but a little bare. It would have been good to have a couple more chairs or some cushions or loungers to make it possible to spend more time on the roof enjoying the view. It was a bit cold in our room at night. Cold room (time of year!). Room was a bit cold at our arrival. Cold in rooms at night, not enough blankets to stay warm.
