The excellent welcome we had and the good meal in the poolside restaurant. The Manager was very hands-on and had initiated a programme of refurbishment. The pool was very nice and the views over the Straits from the front of the hotel were lovely. It appeared to be a popular hotel for business and families. The road system nearby is quite complicated.. The staff were amazing. I was travelling alone and they were especially attentive to ensure that I was safe and well looked after. The location is great, especially for a driver over the border into Singapore. The restaurant serves Italian-Japanese fusion which I had never experienced before but was really great. The live music added a nice touch.
all reviews » The room is spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast was quite standard but I like it. Good variety of Malaysian food as well as western mix. The free Wifi in the rooms was a selling point. Not many 4-5 star hotels offer in room free Wifi, so this was a plus point. Like the excellent service from the staff, including front desk, housekeeping, restaurant wait staff etc. Also like the great seaview and how the hotel is hemmed in by palm trees all around, giving it a resort feel in the middle of the city!. I enjoyed my stay there, the environment is very realxing, moreover the hotel has a very nice swimming pool and gym. I'd like t have a special mention to Sashi, Aidah or Richie at the front desk, you guys made me feel like at home. Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent service. Nice lobby, bar and restaurants. Various different exotic cars regularly parked at the entrance - great if you are a petrol head like me. Staffs were efficient, friendly and prompt from the start. They catered to my request for an early check-in, and for additional bottles of mineral water and towels promptly as well. The design of the hotel exterior and interior is elegant. No wifi but this is being rectified this month as part of the electrical refurbishment. The wifi can be quite erratic at times. Probably due to some patrons hogging the line for huge downloads. The hotel should look for ways to control bandwidth. Some of the furnishings are a little old, e.g. from car park to lobby, car park lift, minor details, that give away the age of the hotel. The free wi-fi connection didnt work at all during all my stay, this is something that the hotel management shold look after to keep up with the standards of a 5 star category. The breakfasts could be a bit broader in their range. Facilities were limited. We stayed at Jnr Suite Highest floor at the corner room. One corner of the room ceiling was leaking and wet the carpet and stained the curtains. The staff explained this only happens during raining season. Why do you then have it available??!! The carpark is rather old and could use repainting. Having written down request for a king size bed but was told no more rooms with king size bed available and I have to pay to upgrade to deluxe room. Service is good but can be better. Housekeeping can improve. Drinks price in the bar were ridiculous. It was a little off the beaten track, but easy to get in and out of. 1) lack of maintenance 2) pillow cases having bad smells, need to improve in laundring of the linens and bed sheets. 3) foods can improve in more variety and exciting cuisine 4) I was not informed what time the breakfast starts and where, I had to call to enquiry. 5) A few ''corners" need inprovements so that guest would feels worth of their money. Can improve/include more on vegetarian menu ( Ala Carte) Also need more vegan items on buffet bar. Can improve on the wifi in the rooms pls. Cannot comply King Size Bed and need to compromise with smoking room. Location out of the way. breakfast menu did not show this is 5 star hotel, not variety. Lousy Breakfast. The restaurant/cafe is not capable in handling the breakfast crowd. Not up to my expectation as a five stars hotel. Very slow wifi connection in our room. No children's activities/room Mattress not very supportive for bad backs. A/C was much too cold, in the room no chance to heat it up. Furniture is cheap and the chairs in the room are stained. We moved from the first room because of the smell and the chair had a burn hole in a non smoking room. The room was a bit dated as the carpet and bathroom door was slightly worn out. On the surface everything seems clean until u go into detail. I found stains on the bedsheet (black, probably shoe mark), on the small square pillows (they probably didnt change them), on the toilet (dried pee?, eeew). The toilet seat is broken. The toilet near the pool was dirty too. The hotel rooms are dated and need to be maintained or renovated. The jacuzzi and its surroundings are in bad shape and needs to be overhauled. Room corridors were lined up with uncollected room service dishes. Noticed it was there from 2.00pm till late night. The extra charges not mentioned on the booking sheet, ie, breakfast not included. Extra charges for kingsize bed to replace twin beds. Our 6th visit and the guest services at the check in/out counter has deteriorated tremendously after every visit. Kept saying our room will be ready in 15mins each time we asked. We were checked in 1hour n 15minutes late. A/C at our room seemed like it was not working n the room felt very warm throughout our stay. Location out of the way, not near to any malls. Cleanliness need to be improved eg. found lipstick marks on cup in room. Room size was a bit small. Food is not good and staff are a bit slow. Wireless in the room is very weak. my request to kingside bed was rejected.check in time is after 3pm but i called before 12 to recomfirm room bed size.i stay with my 3 years old kids in twin bed room,whole night cant sleep well .worried she falleddown,shared bed with her,till my back pain.no swimming pool for kids . Expensive buffet with little variety.
