This is the second time I stayed at Hard Rock Hotel Penang. Was with three other friends and we checked into two adjoining hill view rooms on the 5th floor. The view was not as great as the sea view rooms and there were no balconies but it cost a lot less too during the peak holiday season so no complains. The check-in was quick (less than 5 minutes) and hassle-free despite the throngs of people. This being the hill view rooms, it was also alot quieter in the evening. Visited the Hard Rock Caf.
all reviews » The staff was not only friendly but helpful. We were in Penang with another family and my parents and did not arrange anything with the hotel in advance. There were no van rentals available but the concierge tried and made a few phone calls for us and did manage to one for us. We were really grateful to them for even trying. The pool was fabulous and my children (9, 5 and 4) absolutely LOVED it. We booked a King's Double room and was pleasantly surprised when HRH upgraded us to a suite which is. I love everything about the hotel! I stayed for a night at a room accessible to the swimming pool and it was a great relaxing experience. I love the way they designed the room. It's not a gigantic room, but it's cozy and suits us. It's high quality room which turns your mood on. We loved the channels provided & a speaker too! It's special. Just bring your own music, either CD or Iphone, then you can enjoy the best music in your room. We definitely will repeat it again next year!. Great facilities especially having a Lagoon Room and immediate access to the pool. Pool clean and with plenty of space with several different depths to suit all ages and abilities. Pizzaria very good quality food especially the spag bol. Good location just along from the night market and restaurants of Batu Ferringhi. Very impressive lightening storms at night over the sea. Great hotel for children and families. - the room opens to the lagoon & I can swim immediately I change in my room. - the staffs are friendly and enthusiastic about their duties (helpful). - the breakfast buffet spread are good & the staffs at the restaurant were prompt & helpful. - the hotel room and it's compound are clean. - greeted when entering the premises by friendly staffs. Most suitable for family with young children as it caters for their need by having water theme park which is much easier to monitor children than the sea/beach. There are several hard rock shops to choose from. Staff could be considered friendly. On the whole it is a good hotel although the price could be considered on a high side for the locals. The staffs were superb, professional and very friendly, and the guests are very well greeted.. Rooms and beds are very nice, good and clean,bathroom decor is good too, though we do not have any bathtub. the shower only bathroom did not disappoint. I also like the pool design, with plenty of water slides for kids. Foodwise ,is pretty good. Stayed only one night. As such, could not give a more comprehensive rating. However, what caught my eye were: 1) the cleanliness of the whole area; 2) the staffs' politeness and ever ready assistance..... KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK..... Will definitely visit you guys again..... Salutations to all the staff and management !!!!!!. We had a smooth check-in although we got in later due to the flight. The staff at the reception were all smiles all the time and always willing to help. Our room was big and glad that it was good enough for 3 of us and love the pillows too. Food was good at hard rock cafe and the Starz serves great and hearty breakfast. Excellent in all aspects. No complains. Front line staffs are fun and helpful !Felt safe leaving the kids indoor in kids room. Great activities in there for the kids. Been there in April 2013 and again in June 2013. Planning more trips to Hard Rock Penang in near future. Excellent place if you have young kids, the pool especially was great. Prices fairly expensive. - I stayed in room 118 & the hanging of wet clothes in the bathroom were faulty. Less traditional local menu to choose from, probably they are focusing on foreign clients instead of the locals. A bit far from the city centre if you want both city and beach combination Slightly away from the night market although within walking distance. The rest should be OK. Bugs (small flies)were everwhere in the room balcony, after the rain.. Our room is on the 6th floor. Prices for rooms and merchandise are a bit too steep. Tongs used to take food during breakfast are too stiff, that I had to use both hands. Crowded with children but not a choice since it is the school holidays. If I'm being really really really picky the only fault I could find was the wifi in room didn't work but worked fine in rece. It can get busy on Friday and Saturday nights with the crowds coming for the music. Its a plus and a minus!. nothing. The breakfast room was a bit too crowded!. none. First impression of the room wasn't up to my standards for the money that I am paying for. The Hard Rock cafe wasn't up to my standard as well. Food is salty. no bath tub,. Food and drink a little over priced compared to local eateries, otherwise no complaints. Quite far from night market and food court Batu Feringgi (20-30min walking), better take a cab for RM10. Very far from Penang airport around 1.20 mins going up and down the city. Too crowded people during breakfast. Cannot eat calmly.. limited parking space. Need to park my car behind the hotel and walking very far from car to lobby.. should have vallet parking service for hotel guest.. nothing ! everthing's great !. Nothing... Rooms are little small Far from the heart of town. The prices are high and booking it with letsbookhotel.com we discovered that we incurred taxes that had always been included before. Added a lot to the price and started us on a low note at the resort. Crowded pool Expensive!. Poor general internet speed. But after we complained we were given a individual 3G router device, which worked very good. You need to be prepared for the overwhelming 'Hard Rock' formula, which is everwhere on the premesis. To be more receptive of customer's birthday - had to remind hotel 3 times for a complimentary birthday cake. The cabana huts are charged - and to avoid people from sitting in the huts, they were chained - makes it look unsightly Pool water could be cleaner. Maintenance of room not up to par although design and deco were nice and modern. They can improve in wifi because in my room I hardly go it.. The staff comes very early to check mini bar. The floats were RM 10 per day. Couldn't it have been free for hotel guests, say one for each room? I didn't understand the need to charge for those things. Also couldn't there have been a special discount at the Hard Rock Shop for hotel guests?. The parking is not safe. Someone scratched my car, I didn't blocked any car. Not at this moment.
