Sauna & Capsule Hotel Hokuo - Photos
What people say
Location - very close to Ueno station, sauna facilities (I started and
ended every single day in there - they are brilliant), cleanliness, cost
and the "relax" room - basically, a room full of very
comfortable easy chairs with blankets and individual tv to kick back
after the sauna (or really, any time you like). Honestly, I didn't
know how I would like the experience of sleeping in a capsule, but I
actually really liked it. They are comfortable, cool and clean and I
could have stayed there muc. all reviews »
Great, efficient, very friendly, clean. Note that there isn't wi-fi but there's a computer to use. You can't leave your bag for a while once you'e checked out, but if you're staying multiple nights you can leave it throughout the in-between days, if that makes sense. Still giving this five stars because everything promised was delivered to the highest standard. One more tip for the first time visitor to TK - unless you want to have to ask for directions, print out an EXACT map of how to find th.
*/ Very clean & safe
*/ Great location (easy to go to airport - close to airport express stop), walking distance (long walk) to all key areas
*/ capsule experience is cool :)
*/ the public bath and sauna were actually really good way to relax after long day.
Budget-friendly hotel with nice staff members who could also speak english, great facilities (onsen & sauna), excellent location and great atmosphere in the hotel in general.
I liked the sauna (two small pools ). I liked the capsule experience (small but comfortable and clean). I liked the location (near Ueno). I would definitely recommend it..
The hotel is best sit next to Ueno Station just a few minutes walk. It is very convenient for the traveller with a short stop and plan for hopping to next destination.

-Very well located.
Sauna and open-air bath were great for relaxation after walking through city...
Budget accommodation but clean and functional. An authentic experience!.
It was wonderful!.
Good service.
Location is good. It is not far from Ueno Station.
very good.
I was travelling with my 17yo son. We thought it would be an interesting experience to stay in a capsule hotel for one night.
Interesting once you are tucked away inside your capsule.
Cheap price, the location was convenient to the train station and restaurants.
brilliant location.
With the exception of one incredibly rude and pushy staff member,
everyone else was lovely.
*/ little place to store luggage (small lockers)
*/ the capsules are not super sound proof - snoring neighbors can be a bit disturbing.
The check out at 10am. Way too early. :).
That only one I really can't accept is the locker. IS REALLY REALLY TOO SMALL!!!!!! If traveler bring quite big luggage, maybe need to ask counter can help keep or not.
You have to store your luggage into the locker room, and have to go there every time you need something.
You cannot stay there during the daytime.
Nothing.
Some strange looking lady was soaping up men for a fee.kind of creepy but I just ignored it.
There are smoking and non smoking floor, please make sure and inform the
staff for your preference. The hotel should have English sign on street
for foreigner.
Difficult to find. No explanation of what to do. We checked in not realising that once you are checked in you pretty much have to go to bed, no going out again.
very little to no English, no laundry service or even help obtaining, no iron for clothes, capsules uncomfortable foam pad, small lockers, no shower stalls, dirty moldy shower area, capsules not well ventilated,.
people making loud noises at mid night, you will need ear plugs if you are a light sleeper!.
