Opened in 2012, the Demetra Hotel is opposite the Rome Opera House and 5 minutes' walk from Termini Station. The modern rooms come with air conditioning, wood floors and free Wi-Fi. Hotel Demetra occupies 3 floor of a 6-floor building. Rooms are soundproofed and include an LCD TV, minibar and an en suite bathroom with free toiletries and a hairdryer. The location of the hotel is perfect for a city break. 10 minutes walk from Termini station and we found it very easy to find using google maps. There is now a big sign so even though the reception is on the 1st floor of the building we still found it with ease. The location of the hotel was perfect for us to see the whole of Rome. We walked everywhere from the hotel. It is 15 minutes from the Colleseum and Roman Forum and maybe half hour walk the other way for the Spanish steps, trevi fountain.
all reviews » The hotel is situated on first floor of 4 storey building. The hotel Demetra brand new - very clean lines - fresh and crisp. Typical Itialian modern style, with tiled floors and walls. The rooms are very nice, no frills. Location is great, 5 min walk to Termini bus station/train station. Stop for red open top tour bus 110. Only a couple of minutes from the train station and metro hub. Spotlessly clean, friendly & helpful staff. Lovely little area downstairs for breakfast which had a good selection of food. Extremely quiet for a city centre hotel. Plenty of restaurants nearby but only a couple of minutes on tube to main squares anyway,. Everything. Good location, good breakfast, good decor, friendly helpfull staff. The front entrance is shared by other hotels on different floors and is in the process of being refurbished no doubt to the high standard of the hotel itself. Bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy. All staff members, without exception, were very kind. When we had to start the day early in the morning, breakfast bags(croissant, yogurt, water and fruit) were ready to take out on request. Staff was very helpful, the room was good size and had a nice view. Convenient location, close to Termini station and buses and tube, easy to get everywhere, however away from restaurants and sights. As the other reviews say the outside of the hotel looks a bit like a building site but once you are inside it completely makes up for this. The entrance off the street (which is shared by two hotels (Demetri and another) is still under construction, fitting electrics and piping under the stairwell. Was a bit frightening on arrival, but once you reach 1st floor reception, was beautiful. No tea making facilities. Nothing - for the price bracket it falls into it was excellent. No english channels on tv. But who goes to Rome to watch tv?. There was no ramp at the entrance, we had a pram and had to carry it up the stairs to the raised ground floor level where was a lift. But it was a very minor issue. Nothing - for what we paid, we got more than expected. It is not a four star hotel by any stretch of the imagination but in saying that, I've stayed in worse 5 star hotels and paid 3 times the price!. Wifi was very very weak in room (207). Had to hang out by the room door (rather than comfortably in bed) to get any kind of signal. Lame. Wifi super important when traveling (usually without data roaming) so this might be a deal-breaker for staying here again. Breakfast contains only basic food without many choices. There is no soundproofing among rooms. Reception is located on 1 floor. Would have liked a beer in the evening but the bar was never open, but we went to a local shop and bought some for the room so easily solved. Very little to dislike but maybe more choices at breakfast and possibly tea/coffee facilities in bedroom itself. The only criticism is that the lift is located after the initial entrance stairs. If you have heavy luggage make sure you ask reception for assistance. Room is a bit small but standard for a city like Rome. Breakfast was so so, baked good could have been more fresh. Broken air con (on 1st night) but repaired when requested, lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room (alternatively a bar area/ room service after hours), poor signage for hotel entrance and no warning/apology for renovation works at entrance. Breakfast was mediocre. Croissants were stale. Scrambled eggs old and like rubber. Triple room is not comfortable for three, wished we would have booked two rooms. room was bit small. Hotel not equipped with its own garage. Breakfast noise in the morning we were in rm 105 hard to have sleep in. Small room (12sqm). Rooms small. small room. no parking (though a reasonably-priced garage nearby). hard to find it beacuse there is no sign at the enterence of the building. Not great value for the money spent. For 120 euros a day I can find five star hotel twice better in Cyprus.
