We loved the location of this hidden gem! It is located in Forio, near the top of the mountain. We were nervous at first because the cab driver just kept saying "oh too far, very hard". We soon found that he meant to drive his cab to the hotel ( lots of winding narrow roads, took about 45 minutes). But we got to our destination and couldn't have been happier. It is run by a family. The dad was a builder and the mom a decorator. The daughter speaks the most English and the whole family was extre.
all reviews » We have chosen this hotel for our honeymoon in August 2013 from huge list of hotels on Ischia and as soon as we arrived we were SO glad of our choise. The hotel staff is very helpful and nice, the location is perfect - it's very quiet, but you can reach all the places and sights that you need (they have a free transfer to city and to the beach). Renting a car is a very good solution, but we didn't rent cause we were afraid of tricky roads on island. The breakfast is nice, but there aren't much . Our honeymoon stay here was a truly wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived and lovely owner Roberto welcomed us in the courtyard we knew this small hotel would be something special. The gardens are amazing, the pool is brand new, the rooms are modern and perfectly clean. Breakfast every morning was delicious..croissants, home baked breads, fresh fruit from the gardens. The entire family including Francesco & Alessandro were wonderful & more than helpful to us. Take the hotel'. Beautiful building, comfortable rooms, tastefully decorated, very pleasant atmosphere. Ideally located for a relaxing holiday, relatively close to the beach and thermal park. We were traveling with children, they loved the lemon trees and the well proportioned garden, but the place is more suitable for a romantic brake. This has been one of the highlights of our lives. We love Ischia and were lucky to have found tenuta del poggio. The family that owns and runs it is amazing. Antonio and his sons Francesco and Alessandro have been exceedingly helpful and friendly, we would come back here in a heartbeat. Thank you for an amazing trip. Beautiful hotel and grounds in a stunning position up high away from the hustle and bustle of Forio. Yes its up a winding steep hill but we knew that, the local buses drop you very near (Panza) and then its a pleasant 15 minute walk. All the staff are welcoming and very helpful. Hotel is well situated, has panoramic views and very nice garden, warm swimming pool contains thermal water. The hotel is absolutely new, everything is clean, all rooms are well equipped and very comfortable. Individual transfer to Forio is free of charge and very useful. Tonino and his family welcomed us with open arms - it was a wonderful long weekend! It is difficult to reach but WELL worth it! And the three restaurants that are within walking distance were divine! Can not wait to return! Grazie!. Our favourite spot. Ischia is a stunning island but this acommodation made the time there perfect. We hired a scooter which was a great way to see the island. I just wish we'd spent more time here and less in Sorrento. 11 out of 10. The best place we stayed in Italy by a mile. Family run and there was no question too small for them to assist with. Very nice location up in the mountains, relaxing and quiet. Would recommend to anyone!. This is a family run hotel but very professional . They were very accommodating. Hotel staff didn't tell us in advance, that they have free transfer from Forio to hotel till 16.00, and while we were in train from Rome to Naples we recieved a call from hotel, asking if we will arrive till 16 so they could meet us. So, ask for transfer by yourself. Also noone met us when we arrived in hotel and we were walking with suitcase till we found reception. The hotel is high up in the hills along a tiny, winding road so make sure you arrange to be collected at Ischia Port. Once at the hotel, ask Roberto to hire a car or moped for you which will be delivered straight to the hotel door for you and it's the best rate on the island, we checked. I could not pick one fault with the hotel itself. We could hear the neighbors and they could definitely hear us (and our children. -On arrival we did not receive any welcome basket with home-grown produce. -It would be great to provide for guests some plaids to use on balcony or terraces in cold weather. -anyway, this hotel is absolutely nice!. Nothing!. This isn't a criticism of the hotel. Narrowness of the roads generally on the island and those surrounding the hotel. Anything larger than a smart car will cause problems. I scratched a wing mirror that cost €250 when I returned the car to Avis ( luckily covered by amex). It's inevitable. Every car on the island is scratched. No room service. Getting there! The roads were a nightmare but that was because we took our own car! The hotel provides shuttle service to bus stops and is extrememly helpfull in this respect. Shower not v good. Piddly. No cups etc in kitchen or basic teabags coffee fridge didn't work No promised daily bowl of fruit Tv had only middleeastern news channels. Absolutely hopeless to try and watch either. The news or a film. The location is great if you have a car. If you don't plan to drive, you may find yourself very isolated, though the staff will do everything they can to help and support you. The transport to and from this hotel was not easy. It is in the middle of the mountain and there is no public transportation to reach it, and the shuttle car was not always available. Car essential unless you are happy to walk to bus stop. The island is a very mountain place and its a bit difficult to travel by foot. We rented a scooter but otherwise it would have been a real problem. free of charge transfer to Forio is available only by 16.00, therefore if you want to stay a bit more on the beach you can use a taxi service (is aprox 15 EUR to come back to the hotel) or walk uphill 20-25min. No free fruit plate was provided upon arrival. Far to reach on foot. Very difficult to find, GPS is no help. The last part of the drive is treacherous....only one car can pass at a time. It is very dangerous to drive at night and so it is necessary to choose from only 3 restaurants within walking distance of the hotel for dinner.
