This hotel is very unique. I believe it used to be another type of building & is attached to some others. It is right near the heart of the cathedrals & shopping district. My friend & I had made our reservations just a day before we came since we had arrived in Venice after a cruise & stayed there 1 night. Only a small junior double was available, but it was perfect for us since we were not in the room much. It was clean & cozy. It has an excellent breakfast (small but tasty.
all reviews » Hotel La Venere gets the most points for its prime location - literally a three-minute walk to the Duomo. The hotel room was clean and very quiet, the breakfast was good, and the staff were very polite and kind (although their English was quite poor, which made communication a bit hard at times). I would definitely stay here again, mainly due to the ease of getting to/from Florence's main attractions. The hotel is nice and located near the center. We could see the Duomo from our window. But the room was quite noisy because it was facing the street. Actually all the Florence is noisy. The breakfast is perfect!. Good combination of price and quality. Friendly personnel, very supportive, exellent parking service. Great location, 5 min of walk to all sightseens. The room was very nice, clean. Location was perfect, only 5 mins walk to Il Duamo. Their internet connection was very poor and consequently we had to pay for the room in cash (the credit card connection was down). You had to be buzzed into the hotel every time you returned, and sometimes there was no staff in the entry way which meant once we waited for 10 minutes to be let into the hotel. Bathroom, breakfast. The bathroom showering-door does not work well. Small rooms. No fridge. No glasses. The "hotel" is situated only on one flour. Tiny old elevator. Poor breakfast. Staff hardly understands English. Really noisy, everything is on the same floor and is very badly sound insulated so you hear everything, so forget about sleeping deeply, late in the morning or having a nap in the afternoon... Terrible!.
