This hotel is a historical treasure in the misdt of Florence. Our spacious bedroom has stunning frescoed ceilings and beautiful old world furnishings. Mario and his staff were charming, welcoming and extremely accomodating. We were spoiled with fresh cappuccino's and pastries every morning on linen tablecloths with fine china. The other guests at the hotel were intersting and it was a lovely mix to compare travel notes with at breakfast, where we were all treated like family. The location is id.
all reviews » Great location. Can walk everywhere you need to go. Hotel is on second floor of pretty non-descript building on fun street with plenty of restaurants and shops. Close to all major sites. Owner and family and staff could not have been more congenial, and helpful, which always balances a hotel which is a bit less than elegant. If you are going to Florence to see the city and its art, and not planning on spending a lot of time in your room, then this is a great value. We had one of their large. The frescos are phenomenal. I loved being in a place built in 1528! It was terrific living in history, and the manager was so helpful and informative about the building and the area. The owner is also there most of the time. She doesn't speak English, but she is a dignified beautiful older woman who lets you know she cares about you being happy. Also, the location is terrific. It was an easy 2 blocks from the train station; we just pulled our luggage there. It's also just a couple blocks . Had a fabulous stay with my husband. Only booked the day we stayed on line and got a good rate. We had booked a double but when we got there they had run out of doubles so the hotel upgraded us to a junior suite for no extra charge. The rooms have a bit of a wow factor with Frescos on the walls and ceilings and although very fitting or Florence possibly a little OTT especially as not originals. The management were excellent and ever so helpful. The hotel is in a fabulous location too. If you want to stay as a valued guest of a Florentine family, then this is the hotel for you. Spotlessly clean with a Florence applied atmosphere, homely breakfast, WI-fi that is always available and satellite TV including BBC News and CNN, this most appealing hotel is so centrally located that you can be any where in next to no time. It was without a doubt the hotel I enjoyed most while on holidays. Mario, Nicholo, and the staff were knowledgable, helpful, attentive, and welcoming. The Hotel is clean, comfortable, air conditioned, has an elevator, and in an outstanding location for seeing and shopping Florence. Yet it was on a quiet side street very near a supermarket, the train station, and the sights/shopping. A great value, highly recommended, having stayed there on two occasions. Excellent location – 7 minutes from the railway station and 5 minutes from Duomo. All attractions are easily reachable in walking distance. I found that the room was very noisy - I could hear everything the neighbours did. Breakfast was also a tad too simple - even some foccacia would have made it a lot better. The carpet near my room was also dangerous as it slipped under foot and I almost went over a couple of times. Wifi was at times a little hit and miss, but on the whole great. You can hear all the noise from the street if your room is over looking the street, but this is the case in most Italian cities. AC was not working properly. Be prepared that Italian breakfast means sweets, coffee and yougurt. Nothing reallyThe hotel is situated on one floor of an old palace. Old palaces in Florence are often a bit dark, and this is not an expection. The beds were not very comfortable. It was difficult to find for the first time. The room was quite dark and the tv too small for such a big room. Car Parking in garage next door is $26 per day. Nothing. The breakfast was good but could use some meats or hard boiled eggs, although this is a bit picky. Nothing. a little hard to intially located and would have liked a little heads up that name is not quit visable on the street. cold showers as problem with plumbing!. Nothing. Nothing. Be carefull for parking area,public garage is next to the hotel,but inside limited trafic zone,covered with cameras,be prepared for fee,or just park outside and use taxi. No Aircon.
