  Hotel Berg was a recommendation from our car hire company Blue Cars. We had an early flight back to the UK and wanted somewhere near to the airport. We had been travelling around the Westernfjords where hotels are not big on welcoming exteriors... it's hard to tell if they are open at times. Please don't misunderstand me we loved the Westernfjord... what people say » s and can't wait to return but it is a completely differant approach to tourism. When we spotted the Hotel Berg across the harbour it looked both invi - Stayed in one of the two floor suites, complete with skylight in the ceiling above the bed. Lovely decor, clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful, offered to take us to the airport the next day and told us that breakfast was available from 4am! They have a Northern Lights wake up call that you can put your name down for. There's a coffee machine (with hot water and tea bags available too) in the lounge.   The guesthouse has very nice recycled unigue wooden interior . The tub in the garden is perfect. There is a cosy atmosphere and the view from the kitchen with Dow overlooking the sea is fantastic. We were warmly welcomed, our room was cozy and practical, and the smell of fresh bread baking was enticing. While there is not much to do in Keflavik, Guesthouse1x6 serves as a handy stop for an early morning flight.

  I really liked this hotel. Free taxi drive from the airport was quite unexpected in a good way. Breakfast was just wonderful and the old ladies really made me feel like home. I noticed they had a very large fitness centre free of charge for hotel guests and I used the sauna - will use the weight lifting some other time. - This is the friendliest... what people say » place imaginable, and helpful staff too. No wonder flight crews choose it for their stopovers. The free airport shuttle taxi service is a great bonus. Five AM breakfasts before early morning check-ins at Keflavik airport is a fantastic service as well. Great value for money.

  The hotel is pretty new and clean, it is in the center of Keflavik and you can find a parking very easily. I stayed there before taking off from KEF airport (that is 5 minutes driving from the hotel) and they served me breakfast at 5:30 am. I booked a room with shared bathroom the night before, but when I arrived the lady at the reception gave me ... what people say » a room with a private one for the same price. - Very comfortable hotel, with WIFI and convenient if you have to pick a flight from Kevlavik airport. Mind you it is located 7KM away, so you need extra transport to get there. But this hotel offers shuttle bus service (not free). Rooms tidy and very large.

  During that trip to Iceland we stayed in four different guesthouses in different parts of the country, so I can compare. Home Guesthouse was undoubtedly the best of them! It's located very conveniently near the airport, very close to the famous Blue Lagoon, so can be a good final destination before you leave. The interior is very well thought of, full of details to make - We had an early flight and that is why have decided to stay there as it's near the airport. For sure we don't regret as the place is just perfect. Excellent is not even stronge enought to describe the owner, the house and every thing that goes with it. The house has been decorated with really good taste, some thing you usually see only in fashion magazine.   Everything was perfect. Magnus at the reception was very friendly and helpfull. Arriving after midnight was no problem, my bed was excellent, even sharing bathroom was no problem. The house itself I found so nicely decorated, everything was clean. I stayed 2 nights and was well rested when heading up to Reykjavik, meeting my friend and travelling... what people say » through the south. I can recommend this house with no hesitations and the next time I come to Iceland I know where to stay for the first days.Thanks - Delicious breakfast, super clean bed and breakfast. Just changed ownership and new owners are trying really hard to be as kind and accommodating as possible. I needed a hair dryer and they didn't have one but went out and purchased one just for me to use while staying there. Special chocolate milk provided for the children each day and kind owner.

  The cottages have the 1 bath per room. The cottages were rustic but warmand comfortable. Were great after 12 hours of hiking. There is also ashuttle to the airport at specific times. - It was just our first night in Iceland and was the best begining: comfortable and excellent staff

  We will rate correctly this guesthouse. Why ? Because we were lucky to be upgraded for free in the four stars hotel just across the street. So every thing was clean, we had a private bathroom, a nice bedroom, etc. ... The breakfast buffet looks really nice, unfortunately we had to take our plane and didn't try the breakfast. A place we recommend y... what people say » ou may have the chance to be upgraded in a nice place. It is located a few kilometers away from the airport. - Staff were extremely helpful in helping me sort out a few traveling troubles. They kindly printed my boarding pass, a schedule of shuttles to the Hahn airport, and loaned me an alarm clock as both my watch and mobile phone were out of commission. I made my flight thanks to their help.

  We were very friendly and heartily welcome by the host at 1:30 am - even we estimated our arrival at 0:45 am. It looks like a newly built house with relatively large new modern rooms. We had a "Twin Room with Shared Bathroom" (for 48 EUR/night) and the pictures on the website do absolutely match with the location on-site. The breakfast was served as buffet while it was still possible to get cookies, water, tea and coffee during the - The hosts are very accommodating to guests arriving late and leaving early as this guesthouse is near the airport. The owner is a retired carpenter who designed and built the interior of this very modern guesthouse. The breakfast and homemade treats available in the evening were top notch. Hard to believe we only spent $77 for the largest room and bed we had in Iceland, but I suspect we got such a good deal because we stayed during their first month of operation.

  We had a very comfortabel and relaxing stay at Raven's B&B. It is located in the village close to the airport (ca. 5 min. by car) at the sea. Raven and Hulda are perfect hosts, their house is realy a home away from home. We enjoyed our night meal and breakfast in the winter garden. There is possibility to use the bright open kitchen to prepare... what people say » food - perfect after a flight arrival. The high point of our stay was also the lovely cat. Recommending this accommadation we like to stay again here - Loved the hosts, and love the property, with its unique artistic construction. The property has lovingly been converted from an old barn into a B&B, complete with ironwood railings and other artifacts from shipyards, etc. This was all done by the owners themselves. The couple owning the place offered us both evening tea and food, even though that wasn't in the rental agreement. In fact, they're super willing to please customers all around!   Excellent in every aspect. The owner is an extremely kind woman, almost like a real mother. The place is impressively clean, especially the bed sheets and pillows which both had such a nice and strong perfume. The place itself is so quiet and pleasant, and even though is just a little meaningless town like Keflavik, the place itself has something ... what people say » special in the air. The guesthouse is kept very well with the dining room and kitchen being both so pleasant. The place is very close to the airport s - The room was very clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was one of the best we've seen in Iceland (large enough to shower and no draining problems). Arna and Flosi were very helpful with tips and information about Iceland. It would have been best for us to stop here before touring around Iceland, as their advice would have been useful.   The shuttle bus service is very effective. Even we took the early morning flight, the owner took us to the airport. The kichen is well equiped and very clean. The room and the bathroom are also tidy up well. The system for the breakfast is " help- yourself" with the foods they prepared and we were satisfied with it for the selection of food.   Excellent place to start (or end) your trip. Host met us in airport and within 5 minutes we were at the guesthouse. Facilities are good and room is enough big. Also there are a lot of photos of host, old newspapers (unfortunatly only on Icelandic), books and photobooks about nature both on Icelandic and English.
