This property is less than 100 steps from the front doors of Cologne Cathedral. It is also just a block from the main train station. It is located right in the center of all the action. It is perfect for traveling with children as it has multiple, separate bedrooms. It has all of the most modern conveniences including kitchen appliances as well as a spacious bathroom with a shower. The family room and kitchen are quite comfortable and the views are lovely. This property has obviously been renno.
all reviews » Excellent location practically beside the Cathedral. The apartment was very clean and nicely decorated. The beds were comfortable and the apartment didn't have any features that were not kid friendly like sharp cornered tables, lots of trinkets etc.. We had three children under age four and it went smoothly. They loved looking out the window at all the action outside. The supply of free coffee and a bottle of beer was a nice touch too. The owner was very hospitable and made us a reasonably pric. We stayed on the 5th floor. The room was clean, classy, comfortable, and the rooftop balcony had an amazing view of the streets and especially the cathedral! The owners also have the pizza shop right next door so are always available If you need help getting in,the door codes can be tricky until you get used to them! And the pizza is great too! All around loved the place and if we ever make it back to Cologne we will surely stay again!!. Great room design, big bathroom, two bedrooms with very large beds, lots of space, and complimentary beverages. Well equipped kitchen. Free wifi (about 5Mb/sec speeds). Also steps from the Dom and Hauptbanhof train station. The location is excellent if difficult to find as the face of the First Domizil is so tiny. The apartment was spacious and clean. Ideal for families staying for a few days in the absolute centre of Cologne. I agree with another viewer about the living room not having curtains as you felt that people could look in at night but the view is so lovely you get use to it. No temperature controls, single use packets of bath gel were difficult to use. No extra toilet paper. Very difficult to gain access since nobody lives on site. The front door lock and the room lock requires a security number which neither me nor other guests for other rooms were given. I awoke in the evening to find a man standing inside the apartment requesting a credit card code! He had months to do this by email but didn't. I would never recommend this apartment to anyone because management is completely disorganised. No on site reception, but help available at the pizza shop below. The door lock was a little tricky to get the hang of, but that just might be our incompetence!. You need a phone to get your code to get in hotel. Nothing that we didnt like but maybe bcuz it has no car parking. Required internet connection to get entry access. We did not have wifi traveling.Due to the location it was very very noisy with sirens going constantly. Also you are practically on top of the Dom and the bells start chiming very early in the morning. - central heating (via floor) was not well-adapted (our apartment was 26°C in winter). Being across from McDonald's and so close to the cathedral bells was noisy. The is the second time we have stayed First Domizil. The first time was in October 2012. The apartment was seemed a bit more used and was not quite as clean this time. Not bad, but not as exceptional as our first visit. We also ran out of toilet paper!. A bit noisy being so close to Hbf. Personal code for main entrance and the room comes via SMS, that one should know in advance. As with most people we found it difficult to work the door codes and keys. There was broken pretzels in the bed and wardrobe on our arrival. No clear instructions for putting out the rubbish. The staff or reception. Nobody told me that they don't have a lobby for check ins. I had to call letsbookhotel.com to contact the landlord. Also because the number provided was in voice mail. They email you the entry code the day before arrival so you have to be able to access your email while traveling. The price is expensive ,but it is worthy . Entry door code didn't arrive but no problem contacting the owner at the pizza shop next door. Temperature controls not working well, cold nite for tropical country people. no email received on door code luckily i hv a phone wit local SIM card n manage to get through to owner.
