Almost everything about this hotel is fantastic. Very smart rooms with ultra modern decor. Bathroom open plan with room but toilet does have sliding door for privacy. Shower is great with multiple modes and no problems with going hot or cold. Bed is comfy with separate single duvets. Duvets and pillows are down but not a problem for my feather allergy. Spa on top floor is interesting, rather exposed so not for use by the bashful. Very pleasant and efficient reception staff. Incredibly well plac.
all reviews » It would be impossible to list what I loved about the Axel; I've searched to find something that could be improved, but the rooms, the location, the decor, the dedication fo the regitry staff to help in every way..are all outstanding. I had some shower problems with the hotwater, and both times, the young man at the desk came almost immediately to resolve the problem...and did so, graciously.and efficiently. All three young men at the desk for the four days I was there, were friendly, warm and . If your a gay person I say shell out the cash boys. This hotel is fantastic. We have travelled in Hong Kong, Sweden, Japan, Denmank, Germany, Oslo, and is would have to be one of the best hotels we have stayed in. I'm going back to this hotel for sure. And yes, do go for one for the suites. I loved the staff, really friendly and very closet to everything. Go for it guys, you won't be disappointed.. The staff was simply fabulous. They were not only helpful but fun to be there with them. The Bartenders and the cook ing in back . The front door staff were so nioce and so helpful on any questioon. I had great dinner refferrals. While in germany, It was very cold and I was somewhat sick, the hotel made my time very happy. The other guests and and the staff made it still a wonderful time. We liked the location of the Berlin Axel Hotel. Public transit was close by, restaurants and shopping was close and the gay neighborhood as just outside the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room cleaning staff did a great job of making the room clean and welcoming.Mary's Burger Restaurant, located in the hotel was a good place for the Breakfast service and their bar was great. Location is good and this is a nice modern hotel. It's convenient and practical. It has good basic requirements - nice bed, good wifi, sufficient hot water! (Those three are getting harder and harder to find!) I was surprised on this first visit because I found the Barcelona Axel to be only so-so and the Buenos Aires version was a disaster (in terms of staff). The friendly staff always went above and beyond to be helpful. The location was excellent, only a block from the U-Bahn station. They stored my excess luggage when I checked out for a few days to travel to another city. Everything was held until I returned without a problem. Special rates for advance bookings and longer stays. Excellent spa and health club. - ideal location on a beautiful tree-lined boulevard - Junior Suite was largest unit and worth the extra cost for the room - equipped with all the comforts a gay couple might seek - pleasant stroll to gay nightlife and to U-Bahn station Wittenbergplatz - can't emphasize enough that the Axel Hotel in Berlin IS perfect for discerning men. The location is excellent for shopping and train links to other parts of Berlin. The Axel's restaurant 'Hamburger Mary's' has good well priced food and a drag show every Friday and Saturday night. Special price, surprise room upgrade to suite, midday check-out, view from window, good breakfast, jacuzzi bath, amazing bed...the list goes on! (Staff pleasant as well - much appreciated!). Breakfast was much better. - prepayment in full for 10 nights sight unseen (to obtain lowest rate) felt like quite a gamble. We we're there for 4 nights and you had a free wi-fi pass for 3 days then you have to pay extra. The pillows were terrible. In our opinion cleanliness could be much better, f.i. bathroom window is cleaned so far staff can reach..., dust and messy mirrors..., but these are details, we're sure the management will learn from guests opinions!. (First room given on first floor. ). The Wellness Area shoud be cleaned up in the late afternoon. There are also no more towels available after 4pm. My room was clean. However they could dust the place more often. Hallway baseboards and those in room were very dusty. It would not stop me from staying again. Oh, the temperature in the spa tub in gym could be warmer!. Room will be very small for a couple. I was alone so it was ok for me. Sometimes too black (design). Water control on shower in suite did not work which meant only very hot water was possible. Reception came and showed me the trick to get cold water out of the shower. It is a known problem but not what one would expect for the price and in a Suite Room. Breakfast a bit limited and service poor - understafffed. The Internet was poor. there was no tea making facilities in the room (minor flaw). Choice at breakfast poor Room have full height windows which have tilt and turn openings. No safety mechanism or juliet balcony - not suitable for children. There is no roof top bar Wifi is only free to one guest otherwise 5 euro a day fee for a second person. Shower boiling hot. Not enough pillows. No in-room tea/coffee facilities. The decor of the hotel seemed a little dated. Plus, my room smelled like cigarette smoke every time I entered it; I am not a smoker, and I was the only guest in the room. Starting to look as if it needs a refurb in certain areas although hotel was clean. No space to open my suitcase properly. At arrival my indian debit card was refused - later it was only a "mistake". On a Sunday almost everything around the hotel is closed (shops etc). bed too firm, hot tub/Jacuzzi could be warmer. I was charged 349 EUR per night during my stay, then asked to pay a 1 EUR supplement for a cappuccino every morning. Felt that was a bit ridiculous. Also breakfast in general could be vastly improved. The shower didn't work well, there wasn't enough room for clothing. We were not impressed with the standard size rooms, however, we upgraded to the Suite and the acommodations were fantastic. Well worth the few extra bucks. None, though Axel could do with a nicer/nice lobby/lounge area. Wifi is working on one device only at the same time, which is very inconvenient if you use several devices. - Smell from Shower Drain. To much noice from the windows. I will book a cityroom on the backside next time. We are a couple and we needed two internet devices. Anyway, only one password was free of charge. That's not acceptable. Bedspread had some spot of lube and had lots of dust in the room. the gym very small not much stuffs in the gym. The spa wasn't very warm and is way too small for a hotel that size. I had to move rooms to get a better wifi connection but I lost jacuzzi because my new room with better wifi, had a missing drain cap in jacuzzi. Lack of simple hotel generated guide on where to go on gay scene. Smokey Rooms would be fine if you smoke. Pillows to soft. Extra chair needed. TV to close to bed. There was no storage space in the room - the only real problem I had with the hotel. Breakfast is low on quality, concept of Hamburger Mary's is cheap and dated, bar and lounge need to find someting that brings people in and that works for guests too, decor is looking worn. Spa area needs an hourly clear up of damp towels on floor. No tea and coffee facilities in rooms and no english TV. I liked everything. When we booked the hotel, we were told that internet is free, but we were not informed that, this was only for one person. So all though we had a double room, one of us had to pay 5 euro per day for internet. Then dont say its free. A bit dark in hallways. Late Housekeeping.
