I just loved the whole time while staying at Oakwood. They try there best to cater for western cultures. There staff were just so helpful. The cost of drinks in the hotel bar were a little expensive but that's what you expect in an outstanding hotel. I have travelled the world and this hotel rates as a great hotel. I have stayed in other hotels in china and I could not get out of them faster enough, horrible, but the Oakwood I did not want to leave. If you are going to travel to Guangzhou stay .
all reviews » Easy and cheap (19RMB) travelling by cab from Guangzhou East Railway Station - especially if arriving or leaving at night. Large variety of places to eat outside hotel. Short bus ride to Canton Fair. Washing facilities(need instructions for use in English though). English was well spoken by front end staff. Comfortable beds!!. We had a 2 bed room apartment. The master bed room and the master bath room were spacious and beautiful. The kitchen was new and nice. Lobby was quite impressive. Overall, quite excellent place, especially since we booked Frasers Suites in Chengdu afterwards, and Frasers doesnt stand a chance against Oakwood in Guangzhou. The 3 bedrooms suite we stayed in is very clean and comfortable. Everything is still relatively new. Room service and housekeeping were prompt and the staffs are all rather friendly as well. My sister in law crazily asked for an extra 6 pairs of indoor slippers and they actually provide them instantly. Thumps up!. Everything was nice! Location, staff, room, food. We stayed in a triple room with two bedrooms. The room had everything we needed - a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer. Very comfortable, cozy and clean room. All the staff speak English. The rooms were well planned and pdrfect for family. The washing machine and dryer was most welcomed. The kitchen was well equiped to cook up a good hardy meal for the family. I would recommend it and would come back. First class property with excellent apartment style rooms and all of the comforts of home. Staff were very helpful and bar, restaurant, and fitness and pool facilities were all 5 star quality. We went to buy instant coffee from the nearby shop instead. Very expensive spa. The pool was a bit cold for my liking. Booking.com sent confirmation that breakfast was included, however front desk wasn't this opinion and due to the fact that they couldn't read my dutch confirmation from Booking.com I decided to pay it. Language barrier major problem. They did not supply us with dish towels for washing or drying dishes in a self catering apartment. When we inquired, they told us to buy our own! The cleaners did not replace used tea or sugars, toilet paper. We often needed to ask. Not expected of such an expensive apartment. It was a 6 to 8 sleeper but they only supplied 4 plates, knives, forks etc. - also told to buy our own. The staff in the restaurant had some difficulty in English. not all the staff understand english. We stayed there over separate days, the one room I booked was not so clean behind the washing machine - hadn't been dusted in days. The shower leaks terribly. At check in they asked for a 3000rmb deposit. Although overall the hotel is very clean, in the shower there were these tiny little flying insects on the wall. Harmless but annoying to have around. After midnight room ( restaurant ) servise not working :((( It's not comfortable at all ..so if u hungry after late business meeting ..u should care about it before midnight .. N/A. Perhaps they can get more English speaking staff. Average breakfast. Breakfast was poorly, but its not important. 1- Arab are part of visiters. It would be good for the bussiness to have arab tv stations, like mbc, Dubai, Saudi tv, Kuwait tv and so forth. 2- Massage is required,but your rates are high. as with most places in china, the smell of cigarettes comes through the aircon at various times of day. the pillows! so soft. and no option for hard pillows. some time you loose the gold water pressure during shower. charge me 2500 RMB without my knowledge as deposit till now i didnot get it back. it really upset me. as they should not charge the card but take its number as warranty.. Toilet needs maintenance. Internet is VERY slow and could not do my work. Staff are not aware of local attractions. internet is very poor. In my offer B. fast was included but they said only one person and they charge for second one. The room was small since in my booking was 55 m2... They have included 15% tax and then they charge me 15% service charges!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Though I have asked late check out it was like kick out!!!! With manager intervention I checked out 6 pm.... The room was nt cleaned to my standard everyday. expensive breakfest and other food. Very low internet connection. It really is bad. Taxi driver not familiar with the location. this hotel give me lower standart room and told me that they upgrade. - no hdmi slot in TV sets (as opposed to Fraser Suites) - at check in I asked for an hdmi cable. The girl said she d look into it. Then her colleague said they never give hdmi cables - customers have asked before but they just don't give. She said I could buy one nearby. I did buy it at a nearby electronic market. When I got into my room I found out TV sets didn't have hdmi slots. Obviously the employees at the desk didn't know that. - strong bad smell in the bathroom. the room shown in letsbookhotel.com is different from the reality. the room is smaller.
