The atmosphere of the same sun backpackers was great, the staff there are very helPful in assisting with all questions and queries about Vancouver. The dorms are very comfortable and location is excellent. Transportation is very close, the sky train is only a few blocks away and is also a great mode of transportation to get around Vancouver. Great place to stay and they also offer a great range of activities through out the week which are great fun and a great way to meet with new peoples along.
all reviews » The staff were great. They put on some daily activities, so you were sure to get involved and meet new people. Breakfast was good, bagels, fresh fruit and little buns. There is a bar on the ground floor which has great cheap food and drink offers. If you forget anything - the staff got you covered. The location is pretty good. The hostel is located in the downtown, in one of the main avenues, close to the Vancouver night and day life. They offer some awesome daily acitivities for free, that allows you to know a lot about Vancouver city and nature. It was great! We had a private room as we are a couple! A little bit more expensive but worth it. I liked the location and the staff were really friendly. There is a bar down stairs. Which offers cheap drinks and cheap meals. Great experience overall!. I am a 77 year old active Lady.live in Surrey,but dont like to drive at night any more.when I go to the theater, I like to stay in van.,but I am also on fixed can pension.(look up my income!) less cost for a bed would help. The bar was a nice environment and the complimentary morning buffet was nicely prepared and very tasty. The staff also seemed genuinely eager to do whatever it was that you needed to enjoy your stay. The hostel was full of backpackers and it was easy to get to know other people. Nice bar/restaurant downstairs, perfect location on the main street. Our room was clean and bed was comfy. Or are older people not welcome?. Quite expensive, but Vancouver is an expensive city. We read online that breakfast should have included fruit and bagels with cream cheese. However, the breakfast was just toast, butter and jam + coffee/tea and juice. This was quite a big disappointment. It was very hot in the room, the washrooms and on the 1st,2nd and 3rd floor. No air conditioned. Refer to "what I like ". The lack of a quieter common space in the evenings - I felt uncomfortable reading while people are playing games, drinking and chatting. noise of the wood floor to make u not easy to go sleep. Having to drag all your luggage upstairs. The breakfast could have had more variety. Knock knock, HOUSE KEEPING. Lots of city noise. Washrooms are quite clean, but need renovation. Street Noise. No air conditioning in rooms. They may have a fan to circulate air, but no conditioned air. Bright light of the sign outside. Street noise at night. its all good no problems. Very loud, private room was opposite girls shared bathroom, tiny room. Noisy at night. rooms are really small. only jam for the breakfast. Rooms are a bit small for 6 people The neck of the fan in my room was busted and didn't point on me. It got quite hot. I was in a 6 bed room with 5 guys. It should have been a room with 4 beds in it. It was needlessly cramped, and it was precarious to even get in and out of the room - let alone get things out of my suitcase. Anyone who has stayed in 301 can testify to that. Dressed stolen. Too much air conditionning. Bar expensive. Very very noisy...very. For all the activities, you have pay. Very stressfull. Cases for bagage are very small in your room. You can't smoke. Internet for some reason didn't work with my laptop, even though I came after to another hotel and it did. Anyways, it was really slow, even in the computers provided by the hostel. The breakfast had good quality food but could have a bit of savoury item too (some eggs would be a wonderful addition). not too clean. being on street level with all the noise from Granville st going till 5am, sleep nearly impossible. Rooms were too hot! had one tower fan for room but was unbearable!. bathroom(not very clean). bedroom(a bit small). the wifi sometimes you can't get it. Our one roommates was a bit noisy at night but that is no fault of Samesun. The dorm room was to hot, there is no window no ventilation, hard to breath, very swetty, not to recommend for astma patients, temperture goes up to over 40Celcius. I was happy to leave this place after 2 nights!.
