  Arrived late .. got a great service and a new and better room because the hostess (owner) had a "no show" Great room and so clean .. wonderful .. this is basically more a motel than an backpacker .. And try out the breakfast too .. served by her husband in the coffee shop. 2 hours disappear :-) easily . And the recommendations what to see ... Supe... what people say » r :-) . - Staff communicated very well before my arrival to sort out my booking and offer something suitable. The owner gets up to open the adjacent cafe and offer 'real' espresso coffee to those catching the 5 am bus to the ferry terminal for the Prince Rupert sailing at 0730. Not a money maker but a much appreciated service.

  I had a private room for a really good price, though small I had a fridge and lots of cupboards above the bed. Comfortable and quiet despite having a bar downstairs, soundproofing was very good couldn't hear other guests when in my room. Ocean Island does cheap meals and has a great atmosphere downstairs, it is a bit of a party place but as I am ... what people say » over 40 not really my thing this didn't disturb me felt . I wasn't keen on my original room as was a bit stuffy but reception offered me an alternativ - We loved our stay in this hotel! We got a room with a private bathroom, and the room was very comfortable and clean. Hotel's staff was also very friendly and helpful. The hotel's location is great - was close to everything we needed in downtown. The price was great too! I highly recommend this hotel and we will stay there again next time we are in Victoria.

  I liked that I could sit up in my lower bunk w/o hitting the upper bunk framework or having to duck low to get out & up.   Great value for money - I was given a $70 room for the price of $35. It had a full private bathroom, a double bed, and a single bed. Cable and wi-fi were also accessible. - Older places have character .We found it comfortable, handy to the bus route and ok for the price. Stayed 2 nights.
