This was our second stay at the Hotel Royal. We returned to it because we enjoyed our first stay so much. This is a little gem of a hotel that deserves more than the three stars it currently has; it is at least a three-plus if not a four star standard. Since our last stay they have made many improvements on what was already a very nice hotel. The rooms are spacious and well laid out. The division between the sleeping and sitting areas make them more like suites than just rooms. Anne-Aymon.
all reviews » From the moment we arrived the lady at reception was the most pleasant person you could wish to meet, even to the parking meter we were helped and offered for our luggage to be taken to the hotel. The booking in was quick and easy, within minutes we were in our room. The room was above what we expected, very clean, comfortable and just everything we wanted was available. We could not fault this hotel. The breakfast was superb and more than enough, again the young lady was so positive at all tim. We used the hotel as a base from which to visit the local theme park, "Plopsaland". It was perfectly placed, next to a tram stop and with the park just a couple of stops away. It's central location was also very convenient for the beach front, shops and restaurants of De Panne. The hotel is family run and the friendly staff bent over backwards to look after us, they really were fantastic. Would highly recommend. Location excellent, in the middle of the main street and only two minutes from the beach. Welcomed by the lady owner who always seemed to be in the right place at the right time. The hotel and rooms were all very clean. We would definetly go back next year. You can book here confidence!. The welcoming, we were able to check in early, nothing was too much trouble, we were even able to borrow an umbrella as it was pouring down. Parking was ok, although on a meter, 1 euro for 50 minutes, but no charge between 19:00 and 10:00. We cannot fault this hotel. No real negatives really. Perhaps the downstairs lounge areas and the outside patio will be updated at some point, facilitating more afternoon/evening usage to both the patrons and passing trade. However, do take note that they naturally charge for the mini bar (including bottled water), so worth taking your own, but also charge for any teas and coffees consumed in the room, which I thought was a little cheeky. Once again, take your own. Sorry, cannot find anything!. Whilst the room was lovely, there is no air conditioning and the top opening window does not open fully for safety reasons. Could have supplied tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Nothing serious, but perhaps could have been shown menu for restaurant and would have been nice to have a small lounge area for a drink from the bar. Not every room my group occupied had teamaking facilities, but other than that we had no adverse comments at all. If you would to eat in the reaturant or get room service you need to let her know that day, so they have time to prepare the meals in advance. Nothing. Nothing negative, maybe wifi should be a bit more stable. Absolutely nothing!. No free wifi, charge for tea and coffee in room, but won't stop us from going again!. De Panne itself is a bit faded. The (free) parking was some distance from the hotel. WiFi was chargeable (over 8 Euros per stay) which was excessive for a one night stay. Free parking difficult to find near hotel. No eating permitted in rooms (other than hotel's room service) - 100 euro fine threat. Plumbing needs some attention in the bathroom. No parking other than on road parking (pay at Metre) contrary to what we were told. Can be difficult to find parking in the high season Be aware that for every coffee drunk it will cost 2 euros.. The arrival hall is a bit dark and does not do the hotel justice. There wasn't anything about this hotel that we didn't like. - Parking - it was off season but we still had difficulty finding a car parking space. It should be pointed out on the website that the best option is to reserve & pay for parking. Also - customers should be warned that if you use the coffee machine in your room, you will be charged 2 Euros per cup. Had to park quite away from hotel. Parking information. A bit understaffed. The balcony size. The pillows on the bed. The bathroom door lock. Suggested that the heating timings be adjusted,so that it came on early morning and was on in the evenings. Entrance & corridors a bit drab - could do with being brightened up !!. Did not like that had two beds put together. Could have one double bed. I payed for the breakfast wich should have been included according the booking. No Parking.
