Receptionist: friendly but not knowledgeable enough, not even able to recommend a restaurant serving local dishes. Comfort double with canal view on the 3rd floor: large size room w. Everything the hotel had to offer, also the staff were very friendly and helpful. I had asked for a bottle of champagne and chocolates in are room for a surprize, as it was for my wife's birthday. My wife was very surprized when entering are room to see the surprize. We definatley would book another trip and stay at the Grand Hotel casselbergh Brugge. As it was everything we needed and more. Thankyou for making our first trip to Brugge so memorable. The rooms and public areas were elegant and spotlessly clean. A full English breakfast was available and was to a very good standard. An underground car park was available which was essential as we traveled by motorcycle. The hotel is situated right in the centre of the city, but the bedrooms were still very quiet at night. There was no concierge so getting information on the area we were on our own. The guide books we much more helpful. The fitness center hours were too restrictive and the breakfast that was include with the room rate was just okay but they served the same thing every morning. There is nothing to not like , it was all perfect. The room smelled a bit funny - a little like sewage for some reason. The staff at the hotel advised of a train from Bruges to Bruxelles but did not let us know there were severe delays on the train line - so we almost missed our Eurostar home! There was inappropriate behaviour by other guests in the spa areas which the hotel should be aware of. There is absolutely nothing to dislike about this hotel. Nothing - Very happy with Bruges and Hotel. Nothing. Could have done with some extra guards to make the mezzanine in the family room a little safer for very young children. When we arrived around noon, our room was not ready and we had to wait until 2.30 pm for it to be ready, after a long trip we felt a little annoyed that they were not more flexible. Being a leisure hotel perfect for couples, we missed that there were no room service, and that you had to get bathrobes in the reception with the staff asking when we would return them, we found very strange. The hotel gym and hammam area could and should be better. Booked a double room and got 2 single beds pushed together - kept falling down the gap :(. being very picky there was no milk/ creams in room. the only downside was the smell of the canal coming through in the bathroom. it could be quite unpleasant at times. this did not however spoil anything and you overcome it as it happens everywhere in Bruges. The lack of a daily weather board - would be very helpful. Nothing, I loved this hotel. Nothing!. Check in and out times. Check in at 3 was a little late and check out at 11 was just too early. Nothing. TV a little too small in the room. Two twin beds wedged together is not the most comfortable double bed Wifi was a little intermittent in the room, needed to be stronger. No swimming pool, but lovely wellness area. No restaurant for evening meal if required. I tried hard to find something but I really couldn't !. It took a bit to figure out the remote for the skylights in our room but everything else went smoothly!. The chairs in the breakfast room were noisy as wooden feet on wooden floors, however, this was really down to guests not lifting their chairs. Often had to ask for a coffee pot refill. none.
