It was our 2nd staying at the property and we enjoyed pretty much for twice accommodation there. It is a little bit different service style comparing with the big deluxe hotels, all the staffs here were all looking after us like family member, which made us feeling “ home away from home”. Especially we would like to mention one of excellent receptionist Eileen, she was always presenting you with so sweet smiling face all the time and arranged us the great local tours by our exact need ……! all reviews » The location of the Bay Tree Hotel was perfect for our tansfer from the airport, the boat to Green Island for snorkelling and the Skytrain / Karunda rainforest expererience. The staff at the hotel desk were extremely helpful, polite and efficient. Breakfast by the pool on a nice sunny morning was perfect and added to our holiday. The room was perfect for the 3 nights we stayed, the confortable bed and the well equipped bathroom with walk in shower was very acceptable. I loved that you knew my name as soon as I walked in :-). I loved the fresh sheets every day. Fresh toothbrush... Lol, not sure if this was necessary. My dishes were done and put away on the first day, although I had rinsed them off. Everything was clean. The price was wonderful for myself and my four children. Our accommodation was spacious well designed and very comfortable. Our lovely room overlooked a beautiful garden and pool, Loved the huge TV. It was easy walk to the Esplanade and town. All staff we met were very friendly and helpful. In summary this a place I would be happy to recommend. Excellent value for money. Close to the city centre, but far enough away to avoid the night noise. Staff were very helpful, included cooked breakfast was a bonus. Rooms & entire grounds were very clean. This will be my first choice of accommodation if visiting Cairns again. We got a beautiful quiet room overlooking the courtyard. The hotel is 5 min away from the Esplanade and cruise terminals. Breakfast was included with the room charges and was quite good and plentiful. The staff was very helpful and went out of their way to provide assistance. Close to Esplanade, walking distance to shops, night markets, lovely helpful staff who were very obliging. Good BBQ area where we cooked at night. Good laundry too. It was in a good location, near the pier so we could walk to our reef cruise. We weren't staying long, so we did not get to use the pool, but it looked awesome!. We arrived on an early plane to cairns, staff were very kind to us and efficient the location was also perfect for us being walking distance to town. We were very surprised there were no face washers provided in the room, or available from the office. On a couple of mornings the water in the shower was not hot enough. nothing. As we were upstairs the Stairs were a challenge with cases and child's car seat. Staff offered help but still a challenge. No lift. However, once installed not a problem. People with walking problem need to be on ground floor. Microwave would have been handy. Noisy residents slamming doors despite the obvious notices asking to respect other residents at late hours. The lack of lift facility. Although the staff can help with the luggage, the provision of an elevator would definitely improve the place. Was also disappointed by the tiny swimming pool. Probably appropriate to call it a wading pool for children. I requested reception to book bus to airport to be there at 09:30 for 11:30 flight. There seemed to be an English language barrier and he translated it to make it a 09:30 flight ad so booked coach at 07:10. I was ready at that time but queried with receptionist who sympathised that it was too early and rebooked for 09:10. (She kindly offered me breakfast). The settees in the 2 different rooms were not the most comfortable. Trundling baggage over the tiled floors was a bit noisy. Felt a little too far out of town at night time and although we don't feel unsafe the atmosphere was a little different in the surrounding area. Breakfast was quite pricey as I hadn't booked in advance at $18 though I did have it a couple of times in the end and it was pretty good. The TV is not visible from the bed. Everything was fine:-). The map to find it was not very clear. Was that their fault, your's or Google?. A gecko got into the room, even though we kept the screens on the windows closed. It pooped on my pillow. These things happen i guess. N/A. My room was street side so it didn't feel very private and didn't have a pleasant view. I would have loved to have breakfast but the price seemed extremely high. Lack of lift to upper floor. Nothing really. no lifts to go to the upper floors. breakfast was more linked to asian people (hot rice etc). could be more international. hmm...maybe no lift for luggage to 3rd floor or was there ??. Detail cleaning in the bathroom not as good as I expected, however, overall very clean and I would stay there again. Nothing. Being in the older age group and needing a hip replacement found the stairs a bit hard would like a lift. 1. Breakfast was the same every morning - a bit of variety would be good. I.E. poached/fried eggs, tomatoes etc. (however we did stay for 7 nights) 2. People moving around early in the morning dragging trolleys/bags across the tiled floors - this was very noisy 3. The evening meal we bought ONCE was not very nice. 4. Room 214 needs to have a closed in veranda. A closed in veranda would have meant we could have left our door open as the room was a bit stuffy at time. Climbing three floors to room. breakfast could have more variety. The Chinese groups did not behave properly. breakfast was edible... noisy tiled corridor outside our room. Noise from aboriginals in park across the road. Walking up the stairs, particularly with luggage. Stayed at room at the front no double glazing installed and traffic noise was noticeable.
