The full kitchen and laundry facilities, close to everything. Modern facilities, nice pool (a lot of hotels in Cairns are very dated from the 1980s tourist boom I think). There was a mix-up when we were checking in and we were quoted a much higher price than we booked, but for a Harbourview room. We ended up getting a Harbour view room anyway but paying a really great price! Loved the view and the location. Also, they provide all eco-products for laundry, dish-washing etc., not just the standar.
all reviews » Great location. Right beside the marina and very close to the city. Lots of choices of nice restaurants just downstairs. Staff are extremely helpful. Helped us with all the bookings of shuttle bus and site visits. The studio hotel apartment was great value of money. The ocean view from the balcony was fantastic. Can't wait to come back to Harbour Lights for our next Cairns holiday!. the hotel was very central to everything. pool was great and the view was spectacular. the best food at Dundee's restaurant. the t bone steak was cooked to perfection. I like my steak blue and not many chefsor cooks know how to cook a blue steak. this chef does. Excellent location, close to the main shopping strip, ferry terminal and the best restaurants in town along the marina. The room was clean, spacious, well equipped and value for money. Washing machine and dryer was great. Really good value for money. The room is big and equiped with wash machines and micro-wave oven. The best location, as we set out for Reef flat terminal in the early morning and it's within walking distance. The young man in reception was brilliant, the service he gave, and his friendly nature is to be commended. The view was very nice. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Surfaces weren't wiped down with cleaning solution and none was provided in the room. Usually in apartments, if you put the dishwasher on, they'll unpack or vice versa. But not here. Quilt was uncomfortable. And the smell in the apartment wasn't very pleasant. bed too hard,no lounge,no table and chairs. The curtains and room door both were not block out and let in a fair bit of light in the morning. It seems nobody clean the room in the next day. The swipe keys did not respond until after at least 2-3 swipes. Other guests were having the same difficulties also. I wish the gym was a little bit more developed but it was decent. We had a hire car and after having paid daily rate to hire that and add to that expensive insurance we then had to pay $10 per day to have the car parked at Harbour Light. I should add that there was no free street parking either. We live in a holiday area on the Sunshine Coast and 1 free parking space is usually included in the rental. The remote control needs to be replaced. the power button did not work properly. Expensive breakfast, so we went to the town to have our breakfast. the car park is very hard to park A large vehicle in, very narrow spaces and not enough parks for hotel guests. The fact that I had to spend an extra $90 and upgrade a room just so I could watch a movie on tv!!! There are no movies avail in the rooms unless you have an apartment, then it still costs $16 a movie....very expensive night...not impressed. No breakfast on room service! Had to go into town which was inconvenient. everything was great!. Unreliable parking space availability. No plates in room, could do with a toaster. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. -had to pay extra for using credit card -no restaurant inside the building -cards for lift didn't work properly -no WIFI in the rooms -staff at reception not always there, had to wait. nothing, really. Lights to bright. The view. Wifi in room should be upgraded for free easy connection. 3 days with no room service. Had to use visa card , not cash , took bank 5 days to reverse visa payment . stall sent fax to bank , bank ignores this. when checking out on mon. reception offered to post a letter for me.not done , until I rang back Friday! not happy. Car park is inadequate, seems to be less spaces than required and card to access car park works intermittently as explained by the staff then experienced immediately after. Hotel rooms described as 'studio apartments' a misnomer. Very small and poorly equipped. The room is very light, no block out blinds, hard to sleep at night. room not ready and had to wait in foyer as room was being cleaned and when we went into the room it was still dirty. Standard of room service was poor the day it was done Rubbish tins not emptied a number of items not replaced ie soaps dishcloths t towels toilet paper etc. Had to complain twice regarding it. Sorry but the room was basic, the plumbing and A/C noisy, and the see through curtain let all the light in from the Hilton opposite room 702. One of the worst nights sleep I've had away. Shower broken; broken hook on the bathroom door, shower door did not close, work station way too small, no view.
