The location can't be beaten if you want to look at the city. We had the trains and buses at the door and only a block away from Kurilpa Pedestrian Bridge which gives access to the Southbank with only a 10 min walk. Being right in the cbd was great and we enjoyed our evening views over the street. Being on the 9th floor meant we were far enough away from any street noise. The staff were friendly and obliging. This is a great spot to explore from. We enjoyed being almost across the road from Rom.
all reviews » The first time I stayed at Abbey apartments I booked a superior room but it was absolutely disgusting. Shocking! So this time I asked to make sure I really had a superior room as each time I paid extra for it. This time my room was lovely. Great value for money. Lovely furnishings, dishwasher, dryer,and washing machine. I appreciated that the improved things for me this time. I liked that the heating and cooling was so easy to control and fab location. Convenient location right opposite Roma St train station made it so easy to catch the train where I needed to go considering I do not know Brisbane that well. Close to the mall and plenty of shops closeby. I liked the apartment and that it was self contained so it did not cost me a fortune in take away food. Will definately stay again!. Lovely unit, good access to town facilities and the centre of Brisbane. Will stay at Abbey again when next in Brisbane. Have recommended the facility to others at work and friends of the benefits of the apartments Great luncheon meal at the Transcontinental Hotel. Should recommend that to all who stay at the facility. The convenience of the transportation in all forms right at your doorstep. No need for a car. Considering its on a corner of a busy street, the apartments are soundproof quiet. Open plan and comfortable clean. Depending on your budget. But we were very happy with the location of the apartments. the fact that when i booked in the staff acknowledged my request for a quiet room i got just that a nice room on the 15th floor no street noise and one of the best beds i have ever slept in if im in brisbane again i will book this place again for sure !!. The location to city & Airport train is wonderful. Good area to meet up with friends. Roma Street parkland was a city treat I would recommend, easy walking, cool & refreshing. Will stay again. A spacious apartment with the convenience of public transport right at the doorstep. A home away from home and in an excellent position for city shopping or attending a special event or show. always stay at the Abbey excellent location for South Bank and Transit station. Always recommend it to friends when staying in Brisbane and find it to be great value for money. Abbey Apartments are in a great central position - straight across the road from the Transit Centre. The staff were pleasant and effiecient. Clean, comfortable room with everything that you need. Great position, Roma Street train station across the road if your not up to the half hour walk into the CBD. Directly across road from transit centre was great as didn't have to drag bags far after terrain from airport. Facilities - washing machine in apartment was handy. Value, free parking. I wish they had a convenient way for someone to cancel the fire alarm easily without having to evacuate the entire building at a ridiculous hour. Also the carpet in all the rooms I have seen so far are disgustingly dirty. They look like they haven't been cleaned for decades. A lot of the furnishings in the other rooms are so daggy. They could make so much more money if they did the place up a bit.Just jokingly, the voice of the woman in the lift. Sounds like she needs a change. They need to upgrade their old apartments. And the balcony area is filthfy, couldnt have breakfast outside as the balcony was sticky and dirty. The apartments has a spa and pool but the spa was broken. It heats up but has no bubbles once it was fixed. Our bed in 303 was saggy & the air con. didn't seem to work. There was nothing we did not like about the Abbey apartments. Only complaint was noise from outside spa on one night, but staff turned it off immediately we complained. Requested early checkin when booking but couldnt checkin till about 1 because housekeeping was late. maid staff could do a better job of washing the cutlery in the room. We were told that they would be soon charging for parking, $20 per night. Why not just put all the rooms up $5 a night to cover parking. No one will notice the small rise, but will buck at a parking fee. The fact that some other clients were given a key for our room and marched in expecting to stay there. Luckily we were there and decently attired!. There was no free wifi and there were big warnings about the over sensitive smoke detectors, with a large fine if the alarm was triggered. We were told not to let steam build up in shower yet there was no ventilator. A bit off putting. The fact that I didn't get a sofa lounge. Unit was older, so carpet had strains and sofa had worn areas. But if these were replaced, it would have been perfect. Being woken at 5.30am by idiot leaf blower across street!!! Not Abbey fault though. Nothing to report. Shower drain couldn't cope with the water and nearly overflowed. Tiles on lower walls of the shower needed cleaning . Notice re. cost should the smoke detectors go off, and warning that the build up of steam could trigger the alarm. the water kettle is too out shape inside. ...embedded grime in bathroom tiles ...bathroom extractor fan which ran 24/7 ...broken toilet roll holder. I didn't like that there was no DVD player, I feel like there should be one so that when guests want to have a night in and just relax and there is nothing on tv they should have the option to rent DVDs. the only thing I could say was the fact we had to ask for tea and coffee for the room. cigarette butts on balcony on arrival... Noisy traffic in the street exept from a few hours at night. Not Clean enough. Far to the supermarket... Slightly dated. The carpet looked grubby and there were toenail clippings on the bedroom floor. We both managed to stand on sharp clippings so the carpet had not been vacummed prior to our arrival. There was a dirty hand towel left in the bathroom. There looked to be a blood splatter on the wall in the foyer. Stained Carpet Road noise at 4 to 6 am Poor Maintenence on the bathroom. Having to leave to come home. outdated washer and dryer. Mirror door would not slide in bedroom. Only 1 place to hang towel (ok for 1 but what about for 2). no way to deadlock door. Why a dishwasher when only 3 sets of cutlery/bowls etc. the website was confusing re day charges and about checking in on sunday afternoons. Finally got an email answer wo sunday check in 2days before I left for Brisbane(having booked 3 weeks before). We stayed for 4 nights and were told a mini-service would be done but that didn't occur. The bed, whilst comfortable, really was in need of an upgrade. We booked and paid the slightly higher tariff for what we thought was an apartment with a washing machine and dryer but they weren't in the unit. My sister also stayed there, paid a lesser tariff and had a washing machine and dryer. The free parking is not secure as we had our Tom Tom navigator stolen out of our car. This spoilt our trip...
