The hotel was a block from the Rijksmuseum -- the breakfast room looked across the street to the back archway. We were two blocks from the Van Gogh Museum, and on the tram and bus lines that led everywhere. We were able to take a BUS to and from the airport by walking a few steps.
Very good breakfasts in a homey, sunny room. Freshly prepared soft-boiled eggs, sliced cheese and ham, bread and butter, orange juice . . .
I suspect we had the best room in the place, a large double on the lobby flo. όλα τα σχόλια »
Let's be clear - this is a budget hotel. Basic furnishings, shared bathroom. If this is what you are after this is a very good choice. Great location. Tram at door. Three major museums no more than 500 m away, canals also, supermarket nearby, plenty of food options, and the wonderful vondelpark. Good basic breakfast. Bed comfortable. Clean facilities. Good vibe.
I liked the friendly and helpful manner of the staff. The atmosphere in the hotel was relaxed and welcoming and all the required services were readily available.
The location was perfect for visiting the nearby museums and other tourist attractions. The transport system is amazingly easy to use and the local people were very approachable for advice.
Great location (I could see the Rijks Museum from my window, around 150-200m away; there's a tram stop 20m from the hotel and the tram takes you downtown in 5 to 15 minutes, depending on where you want to go;); the staff was very nice and helpful; the beds were comfortable (but twins); the hotel has charm.
The location of the hotel was ideal as the bus from the airport dropped us off outside. It was also easy to walk to any other area of Amsterdam from the hotel. The atmosphere of the hotel was very relaxing, especially the characterful breakfast room which has a super view of the museum area.
In particular, the thoughtfully-presented breakfast room with views of historic landmarks, created a great mood of old-world charm. We could walk everywhere we wanted to go directly from hotel, without the usual pricey tag. Highly recommend to those seeking a more authentic immersion.
The staff is very friendly. The hotel is conveniently located near Rijksmuseum and Museumplein, one of Amsterdam's beautiful parks. The bus to and from the airport stops just in front of the hotel as well as main trams. The breakfast is very good. Lovely room and clean bathroom.
Couldn't be closer to the Riksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum, friendly staff, and a quick walk to the Leidseplein or Heineken Experience. Something for everyone! For the budget conscious travellers take Bus 197 from Schipol airport to Hobbemastraat stop. Cheap, fast, and frequent.
The hotel provides basic but clean room with shared toilet and bathroom, which is enough for solo-traveller. I like very much the breakfast room where the view to streets is fantastic. I can sitting there sipping coffee and reading books all day. Staff is friendly and helpful.
The location was absolutely amazing. I don't know how you can be any closer to the Iamsterdam sign and the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. Train tram was right outside of the door and I was also able to walk to the Anne Frank House.
Location is excellent, beautiful place loads of atmosphere very impressed with decor and breakfast is fantastic (good coffee!) impressed all round great value for money, stairs very steep so don't stay if you're unfit !!.
Superb location...right there on museum plein across the street from the
riejksmuseum and a five minute walk from the leidsplein. Also all is
very clean.
Very friendly staff; perfect location; great breakfast; good value. It was a pleasure to stay at Museumzicht. Hope to be there again soon. Kind regards.
Breakfast was great and served in cosy surroundings, staff is friendly
and hotel is charming. Great location too. Will come back if in
Amsterdam again!.
The staff is very friendly; always ready to help and to improve your visit.
Great location, nice breakfast and excellent company and chat.
Friendly staff, good quality for the money and great location just few meters from Amsterdams best museums (Rikjsmuseum, Van Gogh...).
Nice quiet atmosphere, in a simple but good and clean hotel, in the centre of Amsterdam. Good price, budget friendly. Kind staff.
Location is ace. Also good for transport cause the airport bus is just opposite the main entrance.
Staff very nice and helpful!.
Budget friendly hotel with spacious family room. Shared bathroom. Steep stairs - they are not kidding! Excellent location.
excellent location, very near to Van Gogh museum and Rijksmuseum. Staff are friendly and helpful. good breakfast too.
Overall atmosphere, friendly staff, nicely thought out decor in bedroom and dining room. Superb location.
The hotel is very charming, with a lot of personality. The staff are friendly, and the breakfast lovely.
Good location ( very close to Rijk and Van Gogh Museum)

It' very clean and pleasent. The staff is very nice.
Friendly owner, cleanliness, breakfast.
great location.
The location.
The personnel.
I like location of the hotel, close to outstanding places and tram to central station.
If you decide to stay here, you will not be dissapointed.
Good hotel for couple of days.
and if you prefer to have lift 0 it is not for you, here you need to step a lot to your room but it is cool, very old bilding and feeling like you im castle.
Clean rooms and they change towels every day.
In Douch you will have Gel and Schampoo, everything is clean.
Friedly staff - give you a map, so you don't need to buy .
The hotel has an excellent location. It is not far away from both the city center and the airport. Bus to the airport stops just under hotel window and the center can be reached by foot. A lot of museums are near the hotel: Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum etc. There is a street with lots of shops of clothes, shoes and accessories just around the corner. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
NB! There is no lift, but a very steep staircase. For some guests will be extremely diff.
Everything in the hotel is medium-low quality. For that price in Amsterdam is not easy to find anything better.
The location was excellent. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. The building had charm.
Location was good, rooms were clean but pure decorated. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The location is excellent, and the house and stairways are nice, of traditional style.
Breakfast room was sweet. Staff are pleasant and helpful. Location is excellent.
Good location near Leidseplein, if you need just to sleep somewhere it makes it.
except the steep steps, others are fine.
There is only one drawback to this fantastic hotel. The narrow, steep, interminable staircase. (No elevator.)
The "lobby" is a desk on the third floor. The hotel entry itself is a narrow door on a narrow stoop at least 10 steep steps off the pavement.
We were initially dismayed, but after a couple of days were going up and down the stairs like old hands.
This is not the place to go if you cannot manage heavy luggage up stairs. This is not unusual for this type of house though so you just need to take this into account.
It wasn't a problem for me, but as a lot of people said already, the stairs are very steep, so not a great place if you have tons of luggage or if you have mobility limitations. Also, I paid for 6 breakfasts I never ate because I woke up too late, i.e. past 10h30 (I prefer when the room is a little cheaper and breakfast an extra charge).
We agree with many others that although stairs steep (and tricky with heavy luggage), it was part of the 'experience' of a place like Amsterdam for the able-bodied.
Steep stairs upon entry are so steep they look like an MC Escher drawing, and the tram is very noisy from some rooms.
The steep stair! If I did not travel light, then I surely got problems with that.
And cannot check in late after 10pm.
The stairs are very narrow and we had to go to the very top floor. Hard to get up with the luggage, but the price and location could not be beat!.
Only positive things to say.
Steep stairs but I knew that going in from the notes online so no
surprise. Shared toilets but that too was known going in. You get what
you pay for.
This is not really a negative, just an information good to know; even
from europe round electric plugs won't fit into the dutch sockets!
Be sure to bring flat plugs or some sort of adapter. We were taken
totally by surprise on this, and unable to use our computer for the
entire time in Holland because of this....
The stairs and the small shower... but you can deal with too ;).
Don't try if you don't like stairs.
Nothing.
Shared bathroom and shower. But we knew this, when we booked.
the hotel is located in a traditional Amsterdam townhouse, which means narrow and very steep staricase. Not a easy job if you carry heavy baggages.
Underdone egg for breakfast every morning, you couldn't open any window, could be too hot therefore in summer.
Breakfast was served at 8:30, which I hadn't realised in advance. It wouldn't normally be a problem for me, except that I was in Amsterdam for a conference, and so I was unable to have breakfast at the hotel some of the days.
the good enough hotel for this price level..but i think room no 8 was the smallest room of this hotel..i strongly recommend to choice other rooms.
Nothing to dislike!.
Breakfast starts at 8:30.
Long flight of stairs to third floor reception.
The stairs are way too steep. Like a ladder steep. Breakfest starts at 8:30. It's too late. You can hear what people do and talk about through the wall.
steep stairway.
steep stairs and very tiny toilet areas.
The owner
The staircase.
The stairs.
Breakfast poor.
Wifi is low in rooms, only at reception zone is faster.
But for me nothing actually bad, everything was normal.
I did not like the cleaning of the room: glasses were not being washed, there was dust on the wardrobe etc.
The hotel is very close to some interesting museums and green areas. The problem is that these were under construction and most of the area was a mess. Not easy to reach the third floor. I only would recommend this hotel, if it is planned to spend time in the museums around.
The beds were a bit old. They were still comfortable but when we first walked in the door we were a little leery.
Shared bathrooms and shower.
Staff is very impolite, almost rude.
They gave us single room instead of double room for price of double one, and when we wanted to move to another hotel by this reason, they required us to pay for whole period of booking.
The hotel really needs a facelift and a bit of updating it doesn't look as though it has been decorated since the 60's. It was relatively cheap compared to some other prices but it seemed a lot for what it was. Decor is shabby and so it the furniture. I had a pleasant stay though and this didn't bother me too much.
1. Sitting with the door and the basin in your face makes the small toilet really uncomfortable.
2. One piece of ham and cheese (once it was two), plus a boiled egg is not a satisfying breakfast - although it makes you use the toilet less often. :)
3. Really thin walls, sometimes I felt like the neighbors were in my room.
