  One of the best hostels I've stayed at. Check in was simple, and the people were very kind. It's a huge hostel/hotel so it doesn't have the general "hostel atmosphere" in main areas, but I stayed in a female dorm with 5 other girls, and made instant friends! If you want to spend your last day exploring- you can leave your bags at the hotel and pick them up later so you don't have to take them around with you all day. The rooms are large, clean, are in buildings that are hundreds of years old and have great character! Air conditioning works! We walked to most of the major landmarks like. Il Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and the Pantheon. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us an extra room when they had a vacancy next to ours for no extra charge. They provided the BEST breakfast buffet!

The hotel itself is secure and only a short walk from the main train station (but unlike a lot of other cities the area around the train station is actually quite nice). It was perfect for my friend and I who are students, we stayed for two nights, we were primarily concerned with budget when booking and were pleasantly surprised with how lovely it was. The breakfast was also far above our expectations. This is a great place to stay if you are on a budget. It was perfect for our needs.
