The history of the Upham is fantasic as the oldest continuously operating finer Hotel on the West Coast. Staff were wonderful. The Upham is a history buff's dream Hotel located in the wonderful city of Santa Barbara. The Upham is about 10 blocks from the world famous Dargan's Irish Pub and Restaurant that boasts the freshest Guiness brew on the West Coast. J. van Ee. Lovely location, so close to all the restauarants, also only a 20 min walk to the beach Nice garden Wine and cheese in the afternoon was a great surprise Milk and cookies at night makes this feel more like being a guest in a country house not a hotel Good breakfast eaten in sunny garden or in lounge area ( on real plates, real cutlery).
所有评语 » This hotel is really charming and perfect for strolling State Street. It's walking distance to the Granada Theatre for concerts and has a wonderful restaurant: Louie's. Breakfast is perfect, wine and cheese in the afternoon and milk and cookies at night make Upham guests feel pampered. Had never Ben to Santa Barbara before..just there for a wedding . Upham Hotel was just perfect..loved the Big House feel and the lovely gardens.. And the 24 hr coffee and iced water..so nice and quiet and relaxing. Quaint, historic and clean. Lots of ambiance. Great location. Love the extras like wine & cheese, cookies & milk and continental breakfast. Louie's California Bistro in the dining room was a big plus. Lovely, enjoyed the lobby and the gardens with it's Vintage charm. It was very relaxing to sit outside in the garden and enjoy coffee and scones. Felt a little like being in another time and place. The Upham main building is fabulous. It has the ole charm we were seeking and the warm home feeling when at breakfast, the afternoon wine and cheese, and the evening milk and cookies. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. We needed some assistance because my daughter and I were traveling with my grand daughter 14 months. Made the trip worry free. We liked the size of the room, fireplace was delightful, heater worked well, bed had wonderful sheets and was comfortable, convenient to shopping and restaurants. Lovely grounds and staff. Excellent sense of privacy and luxury. The complimentary breakfast, afternoon wine, and milk and cookies were a nice touch. Location, wine hour, free Internet, good sized rooms, clean, helpful staff, Oreos and milk at night, free breakfast, comfy bed, beautiful property. hotel was charming. loved the restaurant attached to it. loved the courtyard and afternoon wine/snack. continental breakfast was very good. Beautiful Victorian hotel, gorgeous gardens, excellent location, wine & cheese in the afternoon was a treat. Location and staff were good. The rooms had necessary things--iron, hair dryer, etc. Room was light and airy. very clean, comfortable and relaxing. very nice continental breakfast and great location to everything!. All. i liked the hotel campus and the different areas. service was good and the wine at 4pm is a nice touch. bed was comfortable. The managers were friendly. The age and history of the hotel was fascinating. Close proximity to downtown. Wonderful location; terrific historic facility and could be really comfortable. Great location. Beautiful gardens and common areas. The downside is that as a truly historic establishment running for over a 100 years the rooms are a tad on the smaller size as folks were littler in the mid 1800'S. J. van Ee. Breakfast area was very busy, no free tables ( it was sat morning) The rooms are small. Not a problem for us. Historic means older and noisy at times but still nice. Room a little small. Our upstairs room was comfortable with a parking lot view which was okay. The furnishings were worn and the bathroom could use a makeover. Nonetheless, we would stay at the Upham again just to sit on the main porch with morning coffee and afternoon wine and dream when the Lincoln's owned the property. Fantastic continental breakfast was included!. Had to park in the additional parking. Although, glad that it was available. Could have used a microwave oven, when we opened the window in the bathroom there were large spider webs,. Tub/shower was small and awkward. They originally put us in a room on the 2nd floor and the building had no elevator. As a couple w/ knee problems this did not meet our needs. They changed us to 1st floor but the room was smaller. Continual breakfast was kind of lean for room price. The breakfast is limited--no eggs or bacon--just serve yourself and cold. Serve oreos at night. I think home baked cookies would be a huge improvement. The hotel was expensive, breakfast was disappointing given the price. Internet was hard to aquire after a few attempts we gave up. But overall not a major thing. Bathrooms a little old and in need of repaint and a little repair. Nothing. Liked it all. room heater--became loud at night. tub had dirty grout needs updating or cleaning up. Breakfast could be better. Non insulated walls. low variety of breakfast items. The parking is abit tight, but in 1887 when they built the buildings, horses took up a lot less space. not enough storage and shelving in the room. The walls are thin and you can hear other guests quite easily. Poor value for money; wine and cheese is low end for a seemingly nice place, matttress inour room was worn out and noisy; TV is outdated; "oreo" cookies is weird. A few changes could make a big difference. Overall impression is a tired and shabby place with a high price. Our room was in back corner of carriage house. Nothing special noisy from parking lot. Very poor quality breakfast, wine and cheese, cookies and milk. (Bar cheese and Oreos...I mean REALLY???). Improvements in the food alone might have changed our overall feeling. Staff could have also been more attentive. This was our most expensive hotel ever and we expected a bit moe.
