  We were extremely impressed with the room in which we stayed. Our 19 month old daughter was given a lovely cot to sleep in, our sheets were always turned down by the time we got back at night and mints on our pillows-you cant get better than that! However the reception staff were marvellously kind and welcoming and gave us a complimentary tray of tea in the lounge. When it became clear that there would be a further delay, we were switched to another room immediately. I am full of praise for the reception staff.

  A very nice hotel, with friendly and very helpful staff. The room was large and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.   The hotel was beautiful, the setting lovely. There was a wedding taking place but we were warned. However, it would have been good if we could have eaten something at the hotel. Also the rooms were not too hot as in other hotels we have stayed in - The room we stayed in was a gold room, clearly refurbished to a high standard. Luxurious room with a view out over the gardens and down to the sea. Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Ideally placed for a five minute walk down into the harbour where there is a range of bars and clubs. There is a slight hill walk down and back up to the hotel but we didnt find it that bad although it could be for the less agile. All in all a fantastic stay and we will definitely stay again.

The Shirleyis so near the town centre so you can access - The Shirley lives up to its reviews. And I am happy to chime in. Our standard room was of sufficient size and had a nice bath: I looked into one of the superior rooms, and it was lovely. One aspect I particularly liked was the power strip that allowed me to recharge all my various devices in a short period of time. The breakfast was superb -- my husband could not begin to finish his omelette; my English was made from fresh ingredients and, important to me, not greasy. But the best was Garry and
