  Based on one night stay we were greeted warmly by the owner/staff and felt very welcome immediately. (We had arrived quite late due to an RTC on the A66 and just missed the dinner service however the owner let us settle in with our luggage to large double/en-sute room and order our meal which we were very grateful for).   we payed a little more for a Lakeland room and it was well worth the mony, the only thing we would say is that the room was over the bar and it was a little noisey but that stopped as soon as the bar closed. - Everything! We love Country Villages we would definitely stay again. - We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

  I thought everything about the hotel was good. It was quiet and the room was spacious clean and had all the facilities required for a pleasant stay. Breakfast similarly provided all that was required to start a day. A good choice of cereal, cooked food or cold food if preferred with a range of drinks to suit all. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and always on hand to provide guidance and advice. - Really enjoyed stay as base for visiting family in Cumbria. We were able to bring our two dogs rather than leave at home for small price per night. This was fabulous for us and a surprise as not realised when booked. Also free car park a real bonus for location and so convienient. Great shower in bathroom and as good as you get anywhere. All in all enjoyed 3 night stay with location short distance to walk to castle and park for dogs.Would recommend for budget conscious comfortable accommodation
