Was a bit wary given the bad reviews, but this was a fantastic experience. Lovely old castle with modern facilities, friendly staff, peaceful location with large grounds, huge beds, superb breakfast, and the gym and pool facilities were top class. Great value for money. Attended a birthday party at a function suite close to Ardo House. I attended a ball at the hotel and the food was fantastic.

The ambiance and the location along with the parking facilities the freindliness of staff on arrival and the cleanliness of corridors that let a lot of hotels down. good overnight stay. breakfast was only down side no toast and minimum attention paid to clients. Staff were friendly and helpful, restaurant was excellent, gym and pool facility excellent. The choice of facilities available too ourselves,and the high standard of the room. The spa was lovely, Staff was very helpful and efficient. room was cleaned daily. the food was excellent -- the facilities were generally very comfortable. Outstanding Hotel, lots of charm, and Quality. staff, hotel location, comfort. Friendly attentive staff, clean with good value for money - Dinner was excellent. warm welcome from Rory on reception, nice room and lovely dinner. The dinner menu, service and food quality was excellent: it was like a separate organisation from the main hotel. The spa isn't bad but it's completely separate building from the main hotel. See above relating to breakfast. food was Ok but felt like it was just feed and go. the towel rail did not work, food was expensive and a bit posh for my liking. the bed mattress was too soft -- as a wheelchair user, the adapted accessible bathroom had a minimalist sink and a mirror set for someone standing and therefore too high for me to use. Too many weddings, noise from other guest until 2.00am (children running up / down corridors, adults shouting and banging doors). Food in bar was dreadful. Chips were not cooked in the centre.We had a very poor but expensive meal in the hotel restaurant. decor was slightly old fashioned, however fitting to the hotel. Lack of smoking rooms. Spa was fully booked for the weekend during our stay. no -mabe the bar prices were a bit too much. Dirty carpets and strange smell in the corriders. Food took too longto arrive.Room was showing signs of wear and no simple method for reporting issues. Internet access was non existant. think some areas of the hotel need refurbishment and the fact that you have to go outside the hotel to reach the leisure club is not good. Prices for drinks in the bar !!!. The price of a cup of tea was more expensive than a cappo. the porter did not understand the heating controls and we ended up in a very cold room until we got the help of reception who were excellent. The staff, while very polite, was thoroughly incapable of helping us with basic things like directions to the city, recommendations or simple problems - we had to have a big problem (which we had) to be able to access internet and dial local numbers. We might as well have talked to the cleaning lady for better help. this is now tuesday, having lodged a complaint about the breakfast being cold. fresh eggs were brought out and they too were cold ,and not to the standard i expect of ardoe, i have not yet heard back from the manager. i find this appauling.we stay in lots of hotels and never experienced such a cold dining room, we were frozen and uncomfortable i had to ask the waiter if the air con was on.Too expensive - did not include breakfast in price which was also expensive. Room needed a good clean - cobwebs in some parts. Mold in shower cubicle but did not detract from overall comfort. Hotel is tired and requiring re-furbishment. room was slightly shabby e.g one of the armchairs was ripped. This hotel has, in the main, gone downhill big time. It used to be lovely but sadly it has now hit rock bottom. Seedy-looking, dated decor, dirty rooms, minimal facilities in the rooms, staff who appear to have had no training in customer relations, and the internet was non-existent. Seems to thrive on high-turnover conference traffic At over £200 per night bandb it is an appalling rip-off.The check in staff seemed very uninterested in their job and guests.We were not told on the use of the key into the energy saving device. The light didn't work outside the room so we couldn't see.As the heating only works when the key is inserted , the room was cold, damp and smelly.There was mould growing in the bathroom.When checking out we were charged breakfast at two different rates for the s.
