It is a great hostel, perfect for backpackers or solo travellers that need to keep their budget below . Very clean hostel, confortable beds in the dorms, with all facilities a backpacker needs: light and plugs for computer near to the bed, excellent shower, bathroom within the dorms (which is unsual in many hostels). Good value for the money, with breakfast included in the daily rate. The staff is fantastic, the owner is always willing to help the guests with information and travel trips. Good .
所有评语 » The hostel is great! One of the best hostels I have ever seen. Location is amazing, staff is incredibly helpful. Deniz, the manager of the hostel, knows each and every guest by name! And it might be ridiculous but people staying there are really nice and interesting. Even though I was not traveling alone I met some new friends there. The other thing I like a lot is a light and receptacle next to every sleeping place. To sum up - dont hesitate if you are looking for smth good for the normal pric. Warm welcome by a very competent staff in a very clean and ideally located hostel - can one asks for more ?! I stayed in this place during the first 3 nights of my very first trip to Istanbul and then tried 4 other ho(s)tels. Although 'Old City Hostel' was not the cheapest of them all, it certainly was the best value-for-money deal nonetheless. I would therefore recommend it with no reserve to any backpacker just arriving in the city. I really liked the hostel's location and the rooms. Everyone was fairly friendly, and the bar downstairs was a perfect way to relax at the end of a day. The rooms were clean and tidy. It's a little hard to find, but just remember it's East of the Sultanahmet train station and in an alley with a lot of restaurants, across from the Mcdonald's. The location is quite good, just 3 min walk from the Sultanahmet Tram Station and the staff are very friendly and help. They gave you the information you needed and there is no joke and endless talking, which I get from other hotels I stayed in Istanbul. Generally the dormitory is clean and you can get good space in it. The Old City Hostel is such a great cozy place! lovely and helpful staff :) had a good time in Istanbul and met very interesting people. The only thing I hated is the bathroom door in the female dorm which made the awful creak and really disturbed everyone sleeping that moment in the room. But that could be solved by the staff. Absolutely not related to the hostel management in any way, but after the first few days in Istanbul, one has to realize that the city has much more to offer than the Sultanahmet district !. I thought the hostel's administration was a little sloppy, in terms of tracking payments and deposits. But I did get all my deposits back, so not a big deal. Also, I felt that without Deniz, there would not have been a very upbeat or young vibe at this hostel. She was a fantastic addition to the hostel and added a youthful feel. Otherwise, go elsewhere for your partying needs. Very loud at night as it's on a main tourist restaurant street but just pack some ear plugs and it's fine. Nothing. Wifi was only working sporadically, I ended up going to a bar down the street to get access. Also, the gentlemen who ran the hostel was clearly "trying to run a business," which diminished the experience slightly. a room is less than on photos. A little noisy since it is just at a narrow lane with restaurants for tourists. Difficult to find staff at certain times to check out and did not allow you to pay when they did not have change. Its really rediculous to share the room with 8 people every one come during the night and dose not matter about the people who are sleeping the rooms are small and doesn't fit for 8 persons especially during the night time you can't breathe easily. Nothing. Can be noisy till late night. Breakfast not sufficient, limited to a plate with few tomato slices, olives, a small bloc of feta and slice of bread. The breakfast. Little bit. room too small for 8 beds; breakfast can be better. To share a room is a terrible option, you can not sleep and it is very difficult with the bathroom. Nothing. Nothing!. The equipment need to be repaired, no place to sit inside the room. not as cosy as other typical hostels, no book exchange. basement room is not recommended. no negotiation for money if you already paid and didn't like the place. The breakfast was really poor and always the same! There are resturants around there that make a lot of noise the whole night. The deposit of the bagages is the corridor!. no luggage room, you can just put your bags on the ground of the small receiption room, it feels not safe... Breakfast is poor, they said we can use their kitchen but they don't have.
