Location, Location, Location. We found the Colon to be excellent in all ways. The hotel itself is beautiful and kept up. Our room was lovely with a terrace overlooking the Cathedral. Staff was very accommodating and recommended excellent restaurants. It was a wonderful experience!
Rooms are small, but certainly adequate. the Bathroom was very nice with two sinks, bidet and nice appointments. We loved the restaurant and the bar with the piano player. Nice experience!

My wife and i thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Colon hotel and would recomend this hotel as an excellent central location to explore Barcelona. You are right in the centre but yet in a very quiet peacful location just off La Rambla ideal for all restaurants, the bus tours etc which are a must for anybody visiting the city. We loved the peacful aspect of the hotel once you enter from the street.
The staff was professional, attentive and helpful. They provided information on local activities, access to tickets and recommendations/directions to great restaurants. We highly recommend this hotel.

The bed was creaky
We asked for, and received, an actual double bed instead of two single beds pushed together. We ask this every time, but very few hotels have ever provided the actual double bed.
We had an upgraded room. The location was excellent, as was the quality. Service by the staff also was good and without problems.

I love the Colon. It's location, on the square directly across from the cathedral and the royal palace is sensational. I stayed their with my young daughter for 4 nights 20 years ago and this week for 6 nights with my wife. It was a great hotel then and has only gotten better. It is our place to stay in Barcelona. It has a great restaurant and comfortable bar.

The hotel is very central and a great base for exploring the Gothic and Born districts of the city. It is also only 400m from Placa Catalunya, and an easy walk to La Rambla and the marina.

Staff were always willing to help out on any matter. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Location was superb.

Although of good quality and choice the breakfast at €18 was a little expensive.

A ramp should be installed from the pavement to the lobby so that staff don't have to carry luggage up the steps! Suitcases all have wheels these days.
