  Nikko Park Lodge Mountainside was a really cosy, quiet and convenient place to stay, not to mention really friendly. It was away from the main street in a beautiful wooded area and yet still only a 10 minute short jaunt down to the main station area (or there was a shuttle bus provided for people with less motivation than us!).   Nice japanese style rooms. The hotel is on the main road but it is not noisy in the rooms. Good situated, next to the Shinkyo bridge, so you can easily reach the main attractions.   The location of the hotel was a huge plus. It was directly across the street from the jr Nikko train station, and a short walk from the Nikko Tobu station. For those without a car, you can catch a bus to the onsens/lake area, or to the temples (although walking to the temples from the hotel only took approximately 25-30 minutes).   The best thing about this B&B is the relaxing bath with glass windows overlooking the river -this is not a real onsen, i.e., the water is not from a hot spring, but it is good. I also appreciated that the room had an ensuite bathroom+toilet, which is not always the case in Japanese B&Bs. The breakfast is not too rich (basically toast, fruits and a boiled egg), but it was big enough to fill, and the lady who prepared it was really nice too. I still recommend it. Take the bus to see Kegan Fall, it is beautiful.
