You probably wont find a hotel which treats you nicer in Florence. The hotel is small but the location is excellent. The staff and in particular the manager is exceptionally friendly and sincerely wants you to have a good stay (more than you can say about many 4-5 star hotels). I will never stay any place else when going to Florence (business or pleasure). We found the staff at Hotel Balcony extremely helpful and accommodating. The value for our money was great and the location was perfect. Breakfast was simple but very tasty and there was a very nice restaurant next door for lunch or dinner. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others.

The owners were most helpful and assisted with luggage and provided detailed information about sites and direcetions..the breakfast was plentiful and well presented.Rooms were quite and clean.Best location in Florence, walk to all sites with ease within ten minutes..I will stay there again.The staff. The smell of cigarette smoke was very strong at times, though I was able to shut it out when in my room.The only thing i would have liked would be a kettle in the bedroom for a cup of tea in the mornings!. Try to eliminate the smoke in general areas. It did not affect our rooms, they were perfectly fine.We had some problems with the toilet, it was broken down. Room is very dark. I thought the hotel was overpriced. Enforcing the "No Smoking policy", even on the balcony..smell carries over the rooms on that level.shabby rooms,smell of stale cigarettes,chipped furniture, no drawer space at all. The entire hotel is in need of an upgrade. It's clean but getting shabby. The beds are hard as rock, the walls are paper-thin, there were cigarette burns in the quilt, and the two gazebo-size umbrellas on the balcony are green with algae or mold. The owner did offer to help us move to a different hotel but that process would've taken up our only day in Florence.
