  I'm amazed when the hotel supposed to pick two people with different flights at the airport and my friend happened to have postphoned flight. The room was spacious even for us standards. It was exceptionally clean. The staff was not just friendly but went out of their way to help us. Martin and Milan were exceptional. They located a fly shop in Prague and gave us instructions on how to get there. The restaurant was very good and we thought good value.   All we can say is "Wow"! We had 6 adults and 2 children under age 2 with us. The apartment at Malostranska Residence was over the top for what we were hoping for. We loved it! Advertised as room for 4 (2 double beds) we had come prepared with an air mattress for the other two adults but there were also two full size couches and a love seat.   We loved everything about the Alchymist. We had original booked at their sister hotel but because we were travelling in a group of four there wasn't enough room so the upgrade us to this hotel. Sure, the climb up - We liked the location of the hotel - just below the Castle. It looks like an old building but nicely renovated. Cosy and romantic, with a lot of wooden and "golden" details. The breakfast room has a beautiful view to the Old town. The reception staff was friendly and helpful. Comfortable bed, kettle and tea/coffee in the room...We would be happy to stay at Golden Star again.

  Liked all the usual bits - nice apartment, comfortable, quiet and modern. The real standout was Vaclav, the Manager. He is a real gem. We had the misfortune to pick up a puncture in the wheel of our hire car. Vaclav noticed it , and without us asking, volunteered to help. So that our stay.
