  Very friendly and attentive couple who are eager to help in any way. Lovely period property, tastefully decorated. I stayed with our young son and found the hotel to be ideal in every respect. We stayed in an attic bedroom which was upgraded on arrival at no extra charge!   The Blakeny is a family run b@b,excelent value, spotlessly clean with a wondeful home cooked breakfast far more than one could possibly eat but irresistable. Large room comfortable bed and cosy doona small but adequate bathroom with very good shower. Delightful stay.It is a bit far from town but the bus is right outside the door and only takes 10 minutes. The same bus goes into - we chose tho stay here as we didn't want to be right in the middle of town. It' s a 25 minute walk to the Minster though there is a bus stop right outside if you want save your legs. The location was nice & quiet with hardly any traffic. The room was large, clean & comfy & there was plenty of nice food for breakfast. The hosts were friendly & helpful & were able to give us some really useful information. We will definitely stay there again when we return to york next year.

  The hotel is very clean and well decorated, modern and stylish furnishings but lots of old character to the house. The self check in procedure was very easy, breakfast was lovely and the staff were very friendly. - hotel was close to city centre,tastefully decorated ,very clean and staff very helpful and friendly.   I didn't arrive until 11.30 pm because of a delayed journey from London, however the person on duty was very helpful. I requested an iron and iroing board at 7.30 am the nextmorning which was brought immediately.   The whole trip was fantastic. We arrived late Thursday evening and there was someone there to check us in and show us to our rooms. The room was beautiful, old charm mixed with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was superb, so nice to have a hot choice of breakfast freshly cooked for you in the morning. Couldn't fault the place - can't wait to go back! - The building and room were very impressive. There was a relaxed atmosphere and I felt like I was experiencing a little bit of luxury whilst staying there. Breakfast was a delight. When we arrived we were shown round and given a complimentary cup of tea. I think u get cookies too as several people saidvthey were coming altho we never got any. But we weren't fussed and I think that this was a wonderful touch.

  Host greeted us on arrival, made to feel very welcome. Rooms were nice and bathroom was lovely. Had all the top floor to our selves. Was close to the centre and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was very nice, everything you could have wanted. We stayed on the top floor and the rooms were perfect with a nice view from the rooftop windows. Nikki made us a lovely breakfast and gave us a lot of information and directions around the city of York. I would recommend staying here and would love to come back for another visit one day.
