The rather grand and very traditional style, especially of the spacious dining and reception areas on the ground floor. Relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Very good Full English breakfasts. Helpful staff. Good location, facing the sea, on the western edge of central area but easy walking distance to the harbour and town. Ample car parking space.
It was lovely to come back and all the staff to welcome me from when I used to come down about four times a year with my lady I looked after. The food is the best always has been. Just a bit noises in room 18 and very warm we had to have the window open but otherwise great.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. We stayed there when the weather was very good so the outdoor pool added an extra luxury to the hotel, it was very nice, I would definitely stay there again!.
I liked the whole experience. Staff were friendly and most helpful. It was a quiet week for them and in busier weeks I believe they put on entertainment which I would have found enjoyable.
Helpfulness of staff with husbands fussy food ,and John the chef helped me with my dinner choice , as I had just had major dental surgery and needed a soft diet for a few days which I got.
Fantastic serving staff - always friendly, helpful, smiling. Fantastic location - away from busy town, next to small beach. Excellent bus service to and from town.
The public areas are dressed superbly to the period style; gentile elegance personified.
My request for a firmer mattress was answered with calm dignity and speed.

Good parking facilities, within easy reach of the town centre
assuming you were capable of walking for approx 15 mins.

Food - Staff - Position of Hotel - Traditional Merits - Value for money.
Location was fantastic, staff so nice and helpful. Food was good.
Only one disabled parking slot at the front of the hotel which had been
taken on the second day by another car. Fortunately, I was able to park
on the front each evening but this would have been a problem if I had
had to park in the lower car park..
My room was rather confined, with small windows and unappealing views, but perfectly acceptable at the price.
The rooms could be updated but I still like the hotel and everything it provided!.
Nothing. I would go again especially with a companion.
No entertainment for myself and husbands age group we are only in our 50s. It was geared to senior folk in both hotels that we visited.
constant pan pipes music played all the time - just awful!.
The club room was small and faced the back service area of the hotel; the only window, which we had to open due to the heat, gave vent to the noise of the garbage bins being wheeled past from 6 a.m. Monday morning and the constant cooing of the doves.
Our bed was hard, room very hot.
Dog around the pool.
Would prefere wi fi in room not just downstairs.
May be the room was too hot but it would not put me off going again.
the size of our double bed ,it was tiny ,but wont put us off coming back.
Main road was a bit noisy at the front of of hotel where we were.
bed was a bit uncomfortable.
The single bedroom was rather small.
Broadband doesn't quite reach into the rooms. Not a bit issue as you can get it on the ground floor.
It would have been of assistance if the hotel had wireless broadband available in accomodation, not just in public area.
All meat dishes cooked medium, I prefer mine not red at all.
Very old decor.
bedrooms need updating.
Our bed was a little too hard.
Initial room offered was below par, but alternate rooms offered were as expected.
Room a bit dated.

Very cold and windy weather when we stayed, our bedroom was very very cold
the radiator was hot but bitter cold winds were coming into the room via the single glazed sash window. Very uncomfortable
because of this.
The room we had was very small.
nothing..everything was great.
Breakfast day 1 was kept warm for too long. Bacon so hard it was in edible. Dat 2 was fine as we're both dinners (quite expensive but good quality).
Bathrooms a little dated, but fine for 3 star.
The view from our room of a wall.
The view of waste bins from my window. Unclear bedroom location.
Didnt like the room 61 to noisy. No view .would make a good storage room
for cleaners.
nothing.
Double beds too small.Beds old and worn out.One room hadnt been cleaned on arrival but sorted out immediatly by staff.
poor breakfast,as if penny pinching on ingredients.
Needs a facelift .looking tired.
nothing.
Lack of detail regarding room sizes. Club rooms are actually small rooms when you might be led to believe they are larger than an average size room.

Nothing.
Hotel is in need of a makeover i.e. external painting. Bedroom was dark and dingey bedding in need of replacing i.e. sheets with holes in, toilet in our room took half and hour to refill before you could flush again, not a goof thing when there are two people using it. Meals were great just a shame that no sooner had you finished one course the next was already being placed on your table.
