Staff - From when we first arrived the staff were so friending and attentive. The young guy behind the bar checked us in, booked a table in the restuarant, got us a round of drinks - awesome service. Our waitress was great she was so friendly and even stopped in to say bye on her way out. The room - lovely modern and comfy bed Food - Lush gastro pub and they do a great value 3-course menu for £19.99. After dinner we chilled in the cosy pub.
alla recensioner » Friendly helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Decor excellent, room comfortable, ambience welcoming and obviously popular. Evening menu was excellent and breakfast was good. We would recommend the Dog and Doublet and if travelling in that area we would hope to stay there again. Thank you to all the staff and Nathan but thankyou to Natalie in particular. She made us most welcome and paid attention to small details. Bed was comfortable and big. Room was quiet even though above the pub/restaurant. Room porter was available 24 hrs (did not use but good to have). Breakfast was excellent with fruit juice,cerials,fruit,pastries and tea coffee self service. main breakfast made to order and seemed all are catered for. The staff were extremely helpful and catered to every need. The rooms were beautiful, modern and very comfortable and warm especially in winter. The food was very tasty and good portions. Nothing to fault on this hotel, my stay there was fantastic. I liked everything about the Dog & Doublet, its appearance from the outside to the ambiance on the inside to the small yet extremely useful extra in the bedroom - if I was summing it up in one word - SUPERB. The ambience of the place, its a cosy country hostelry. The staff were friendly and polite. The rooms were stylish and comfortable. Nice evening menu and good breakfast. We had thoroughly nice stay. We went for 2 nights the 2 nights were fine and the first morning were okay, clean, comfortable accomodation and good food at that point we were looking at rating the hotel excellent throughout. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Rooms were nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. Obvious consideration had been given to guests' needs. Not a fault with the pub more a lov]cation detail. we were there for a wedding.We were under the assumption that Sandon hall was a short walk from the Dog. it's about a mile away although the entrance is only yards away. Taxis were quite some distance away and some did not want to make the journey so I drove to the hall and left the car over night. Delighted would highly recommend. The wine is expensive but hey no one forced us to buy it!. on the final morning we went down for breakfast it took them 10 minutes to take our order then 20 minutes finally bring 1 cooked breakfast and some toast, when I was asked if everything was okay with breakfast I said that the delay was unacceptable and that one of the items on the breakfast was not their as advertised the waitress said is the rest okay i said yes and she walked off, a disappointing end to what promised to be a good visit. Road diversion due to bridge being closed. That's being very, very picky but would've been nice to know ahead of arrival. Some newspapers to read in the lounge bar would've been good. An unknown man tried to visit my mum's room at 4am! Something to do with a raucous wedding party I think! :-). On the web site it did not list the facilities within the room, eg that there was an ironing board, iron, hair dryer, toiletries in bathroom etc. Nothing. There was nothing I didn't like. Nothing. Located the Inn is difficult as gps does not take you to the actual location. However, very nice people help you find your way to the inn. outside in the car park was quite a strong smell from the septic tank. Nothing. Smaller bathroom, no bath. Room 11 constantly noisy above laundry/kitchen, No sleep for us, ruined it. So rare we get away.No offer of compensation...just a 'sorry about that'. Disappointed. The double bed was large but sloped towards the middle and the mattress should be replaced. No signal for mobile phone with vodafone. Someone taken a centre cap from my wheel of my Mercedes-Benz. WC nearer the bar (avoiding a treck through the restauarant) would be a bonus. single room very small, will book a double next time. Nothing. Noisy courtyard outside the bedroom window meaning it was pointless trying to sleep until 12.30. Food was good but a bit on the expensive side. nothing really!. small room dirty sock under bed noise from busy road broken toilet seat lack of bedside light green light in ceiling. Some of the decor in the bedrooms is looking tired and the room was not completely clean. Bedroom was small, but will ask for bigger room next time. Bedside light on only one side of the bed. Faulty lamp so light would flicker and go out from time to time. Bedroom too small for a double Lack of shelving and sufficient towel rails in bathroom (the one towel rail there was, was falling off the wall) Stains on the skirting around toilet bowl. We booked a quite Room and all night a electric pump would cut in every 3 minuets, had dinner in the resturant and both meals cold, had breakfast 1st morning and the poached eggs as hard as bullets, not good for the cost of this place.
