The Old School is the best accommodation we've ever experienced. The setting is terrific, between the mountains on one side and the sea on the other. It is within a short drive of Wasdale, so it was ideal for our hike up Scafell Pike.

Astonishing attention to detail. Superb service. Lesley is the most thoughtful host I've ever stayed with.
Rooms spotless and full of nice touches.
Bathroom was very well appointed with more towels than we could use. A variety of toiletries provided.
The four-poster bed overflowed with cushions. Chocolates, home made flapjack and banana liquor were in our room on arrival.
The chest of drawers in our room contained loads of walking guides.
Free bottles of water in the fridge outside our room.

We liked that we felt at home and our dog was made welcome. The breakfast was great food and loved fact we could say what time we would like to eat Bed really comfy and homemade biscuits and chocolate brownie was added bonus. Cate was clearly a people person, she was slightly eccentric which was endearing ( hope she doesn't mind me saying so ). She worked really hard to make sure we had everything we needed, even finding a recipe for hash browns for my husband Will definitely book again

Great location near the Lake District, The Western Dales, and Pennines with many hiking trails and a great pub (White Swan) in a beautiful little village. The room (including the bathroom) was large and very comfortable. It is definitely worth the short drive off the highway and i would stay there again if ever back in the area. -

Hosts Deb and John very easy-going and helpful with good tips even for seasoned walkers who knew the area! Breakfasts truly wonderful and catered for all diets. Main course: choice of full English, smoked haddock, kippers, porridge (best I have ever had!) All cooked to perfection. Great views of red squirrels, jays and many garden birds from break

It was a truly beautiful place to stay. If you enjoy wildlife and walking its perfect. I woke up to see the deer in the orchard outside our bedroom window, a wonderful start to our weekend. Watching the red squirrels and different types of birds whilst having breakfast [ a fantastic Full English] was wonderful. Extremely friendly owners, dog friendly. The stars are amazing to look at . We are definitely going again and have recommended it to our friends. 10 out of 10 from us.
