A return visit for 3 nights, after a 16 year gap! The hotel has changed hands since then and is almost unrecognisable from the previous visit. We had a room with a colourful garden view and enjoyed 3 peaceful nights sleep. Lovely grounds overlooking Lake Windermere and hills beyond, 2 comfortable lounges, a lovely outside terrace and large conservatory with large panoramic windows used as a dining area for all meals. The food and service was excellent. Plenty of choice for the self service buff.
alla recensioner » I stayed here by myself for 2 nights. I had a standard single room, which was just what I need with plenty of space too. The beds were comfy, tea and coffee making facilities and some delicious homemade shortbread provided too. I felt very welcome from the minute I stepped through the door, especially as it was the first time I'd stayed away on my own. Nothing was an issue, and with the perfect weather it was pleasant to sit outside in the garden and enjoy a view of Lake Windermere. Service was. We received a warm and friendly welcome from the reception staff member on check in. Our well appointed room was clean, very comfortable and of tasteful, modern decor. Our room rate included breakfast which was excellent - the dining room overlooked beautiful countryside which extended well beyond as such is the Lake District. Our main purpose was to visit Beatrix Potter's Hilltop House which was a short trip to the car ferry, a five minute trip over and then another short trip through pict. A lovely country house hotel with wonderful gardens and great views towards Windermere. And all the staff in the hotel were very friendly and courteous. Would also recommend having dinner at the hotel because although the portion sizes were quite small, the food was very well presented and of a good standard. Location was beautiful & convenient.Hotel was in beautiful countryside yet close to several towns.Reception staff & Dining staff extremely helpful.Breakfast was really good with wide choice of cereals,fruit & cooked foods available.Would definately recommend for a luxury break. very friendly staff, nothing too much trouble, very clean. The room was a standard room but was more than adequate for our stay. The food was superb, dinner a little pricey but it was delicious so it was worth it. The gardens and view were amazing,would stay again (four poster room next). Our arrival was delayed by traffic and we telephoned the hotel several times to update them. We eventually arrived too late for the evening meal we had booked but they prepared us a beautiful cold platter instead. All members of staff were very warm, friendly and helpful during our stay. Fantastic staff really friendly. The gardens are beautiful. We didn't use the restaurant but again breakfast was delicious!! Our room was also lovely, the bed was so comfy I didn't want to get out!! We are regular visitors to Windermere and now that we have found the Fayrer Garden House Hotel, we will definately return and stay there again!. The peace, quiet and understated luxury, lovely large gardens with outdoor seating with views overlooking Windermere Lake; but especially the truly excellent chefs' creations, beautifully prepared and presented- and very moderately priced. the staff were very helpfull,friendly and did their jobs excellently. the food was exceptional room number 8 that is the one we stayed in was large comfortable and the views where just great .the whole experience was excellent . room lounge and dining are very comfortable and wonderful! most stuff are kind and friendly. breakfast is OK. location is closer from Bowness pier than I thought. it's within walking distance except with a heavy baggage. Easy free parking. Fayrer house is an excellent place to stay overlooking the windermere lake with reasonable price, breakfast was served in a hall open to the garden with a good view of the lake. Wonderful hotel in a great location with excellent staff...fantastic breakfast!!. a few minor points - the bay window roof had a leak and water was dripping on the carpet in 1 of the lounges on the 1 day it rained. There were several gnats in our room when we arrived which we had to chase and remove before thinking about sleep. The bed was a decent size but the room housing it was a bit small (room 16). If you are staying for more than a few days and eating dinner, the menu is oly changed seasonly and there is a limited choice. N/a. Nothing. On two occassions I had to ask for milk & sugar in my room as Housekeeping hadn't replaced them.Evening meal was good,but only an a-la-carte menu being offered was disappointing & encouraged me to find more plain fare elsewhere. Loved everything. Nothing!. There was nothing that I did not like. I had the least desirable (cheapest) room which was perfect - except for the tiny bathroom with poor illumination for shaving, and no mixer tap for the washbasin. some young staff scorned when I couldn't speak English very well for my asking. the garden is smaller than I expected. None of these are a big deal but: My wife thought bathrobes and shower caps would be provided at this price. I had expected a less obstructed view of the lake, from my lake view room. My imagination had set high expectations. The bar did not stock alcohol free beers. The leaving time is early we had to leave by 10:30am. There was a continual noise coming from above us all night we did not experience it last time we were there and could not work out what it was.wont stop us from coming back though. Wifi didn't reach as far as my room. The dinner menu being the same on 2 consecutive nights. nothing. leaving to go home, fully booked the next night. It is becoming too popular, I would like to keep it as our secret find. Hot weather and no air conditioning or fans available in rooms. Nothing. Having to leave!. I thought the dinner was a bit expensive at 30 pound per head so we ate out. Our room 3 had a noisey c/h pipe which boosted every few minutes even during the night! Water pressure was practically nil so showering took some time. We reported these to Reception on departure so these have probably been fixed by now. Having to go home!. Fixed fee evening dining. The bathroom was very small esp with only a small shower cubicle. We didnt like the breakfast seating arrangements, if not eaten in the restaurant the evening before then you got seated in an area without the best views. Liked it all. Could have been a better selection on the Menu,we stayed 4 nights but menu did not change. Nothing. Our room didn't look like it had been vacuumed. The floor had hair and lint over it. The carpet does have a fleck in it, but it didn't disguise the lint, however, not enough for me to request re-cleaning. mattress a little bit too soft, lack of little travel notes for tourists. norhing. Having to use the old England to use their swimming pool. Bathroom very compact. Hole in the bedroom door. there was nothing to dislike. Nothing!!.
