  Ourgrown family of 5 stayed overnight this week while visiting the snow monkeys. The hotel and staff more than met our expectations. The hotel was smaller than expected, but that was a plus. The rooftop onsens were fabulous, the first we have tried in Japan. The recommendations for local restaurants given by staff were spot on.   We stayed two nights at the Uotoshi Ryoken. Fantastic service. The owner and his sister were warm, welcoming and friendly. The owner spoke great English which made things a lot easier given we had very little Japanese at our disposal. The archery demonstration was suberb - the owner spent over two hours with me, both instructing me on the art and ... vad folk säger » the history behind it. The Ryoken is an easy five minute walk from the Yudanaka Rail Station and is easy to find. I'd thoroughly recommend staying at - The friendliness of the owner and his sister put us at ease after a long flight and train ride. The archery demonstration was very interesting, and the recommendation for the sumo wrestler restaurant was great. Plus, it was really nice to get a ride of the base of the mountain where the monkey park is located.

  Yudanaka Seifuso is really a gem of a hotel! The location is perfect, it is less than 5min walking from Yudanaka station and in the most scenic part of town. The owners are extremely friendly and if possible they would drive you up to the snow monkey park or Shibu onsen - both of which are absolutely a must see, especially Shibu.
