Spa Hotel Alpina Hida was great! Everything about the hotel was spot on.
The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff was incredibly friendly
and helpful, the breakfasts were some of the best we had while in Japan,
and the Spa was an amazing experience one should not miss! Some of our
most memorable experiences in our month-long stay in Japan were had

Very nice room and quite large by Japanese standards and the hotel is in a great town full of historic buildings and beautiful scenery. The hotel is new and well maintained. The staff are helpful. The surrounding area has great eateries and coffee- try the coffee at he place next to K's House - friendly people, good homemade food. And go to the Jazz Bar- truly great.

poor facilities compared to all my other hotels or hostels in Japan. You would have had to pay extra for everything, toothbrushes are not in the room, but in the lobby, no lotions, moistures etc., not allowed to use the cosmetic products in the onsen.
No adaptor available! That was disappointing for such a hotel.
The location was out of the way from the centre of town which made for a walk before reaching restaurants.
Bed was very hard and uncomfortable.
Breakfast , western style, was not great.
Breakfast seemed over priced. Staff were not very competent with English.
Bathroom was hilariously tiny, definitely made for short people (which I normally class myself as). Didnt affect my enjoyment of my stay, would just be super awkward if you were about 170cm+ as your head would nearly hit the roof but the sink would be around your knees.
