  The family was wonderfully helpful and welcoming. Hot water for tea was in the room upon arrival, as well as a japanese style bathrobe. Everything was clean and beautiful in a traditional Japanese fashion. They let me keep my bag behind the desk for a day after leaving. And a great price! - Matsukaze was a well-staffed, friendly and budget-oriented Ryokan that delivers for the price asked. Though not in the central-area of Matsumoto, it is probably the best-value-for-dollar for people who want traditional Japanese accommodation in this mountainous area. Additionally, the Ryokan is a 15 minute walk from the JR Matsumoto station.

  Great location being walking distance from the train station and the castle with plenty of restaurants and night life nearby. We could see the castle from our room and the inclusion of a buffet style breakfast made this hotel excellent value. - The staff was really awesome, we asked for a place to eat and he actually told us the wrong street, but... vad folk säger » about 2 min after we left we saw him running up behind us and took us to the right place.   I lOVED this guest house, the owners and their daughter were so friendly and warn I ended up extending my stay for another night just because they made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. There was fully equiped kitchens just outside the rooms which was a pleasant surprise. Alternatively there was a couple of restaurants and a great supermarket within 3-5mins walk from the ryokan. The - We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this ryokan. The owners are friendly and accommodating, and it really helped to have the maps listing favorite places to eat and things to do. The location is good if you want to see the castle, and take in an onsen at Asama. The Inn was very clean, and our room was very comfortable. Our 8 year old loved sleeping on the futon in our traditional room, and the ofuro was a great cultural experience. Don't miss the delicious breakfast for a true taste of Japan

  This is my favorite hotel so far during our trip in Japan. This is a lodge in the mountains, so don't expect luxury (we had shared bathrooms) or a traditional japanese ryokan-like hotel. That said, the lodge was clean and the beds were comfortable. What made this place special was the cozy atmosphere and beautiful location in the mountains.   A room was quite big and it was very comfortable. I also love free wifi there. The staffs cannot speak much English but they all are very great with their attempts to help. I would love to stay there once again. - Good sized room for Japan, with seating area. Breakfast - good miso soup and rice cakes. Friendly staff.
