  The couple that manned the desk are very friendly and accommodating. They helped coordinate our adventures on the Li River, taxis, and provided great information for a great time on the Yangshuo town.   The room was really spacious, and we had a king sized bed which is always nice! Staff were also very friendly and helpful - we booked all our tours through them. The resort is a little out of town (which is really nice) and you can either catch a bus, cycle or taxi (aud 5-6). It is also near a bunch of tourist attractions. Hotel rent bikes and you can do a bike trip starting from the hotel. Hotel could provide a guide to do this. Well situated near River Li where the boat from Guilin stops.   An extraordinary place, rich with history, kind hosts and staff who speak some English, comfortable rooms and the best food we had in China. The village, Jiuxian, is a living example of an ancient farm community, all owned by 2 families (who choose a headman to settle any disputes).   We had booked 2 nights in a hotel in town (reviewed as quiet one) and 2 nights at Village Retreat and we wish we had spent all our days here! So much nicer to trade the awful Chinese disco sounds and scooter alarms in the morning for the ballads of birds and frogs, the perfect place to relax after all the cities! It is only a short walk along the ... vad folk säger » river Li to the city center really and they provide a very efficient shuttle service (every 2 hours from early morning to 9.30pm for free) which we on - We loved the rooms, and the beds were wonderfully soft which is rare in China. We had one of the chalets and it was great to have a big space to group and hang out in during our down time. The staff was wonderful and were happy to help us with whatever we needed. They booked taxis and shuttles, helped us with reservations, and were all fluent in English. And it was our sister's birthday one of the days, and they offered to play happy birthday over the speakers for her as a surprise and let us l

  The location is amazing, outside of the hustle and bustle of the city centre, in the middle of the countryside. This is a place where you can definitely relax after a long trip and feel the silence around you! The staff speak English very well and offer information about different possibilities to enjoy in your leisure time. The food is cooked in the hotel in front of The Cosy Gar - This place is lovely and very laid back. Its true that it takes a bit to get there from Yangshuo town, but the walk/ride is worth it. Its a quiet and safe place to stay and one of the best experiences I had while travelling China, at a very reasonable price! My room was big, clean and had everything I needed. The food you can eat at the hostel is great, too. The best thing about this place is the crew of the hostel. They arranged several trips for me, answered questions and were incredibly nice
