Manaar House is definitely one of the best places to stay in Durban/Umhlanga. We stayed there for three nights in the self Catering Apartment. The a/c duplex unit was extremely spacious, spotlessly clean, nicely furnished and well maintained. As a couple with young kids, it was an absolute dream staying at Manaar House as it was so kid friendly that our kids did not want to go out because of the toys provided in our section of the house! They had so much fun & were so comfortable and as parents, that mattered most to us. The views from the kids rooms were phenomenal & they absolutely loved it!

It was like staying with a good friend! The place was beautifully
decorated, and the owners were amazing. I think people usually have a
car when they come but I was just there for a weekend and I came in a
taxi from Durban, so the owners offered to drive me to town (just 5 min
away) to pick up groceries, they took me into town again the next day

The owners were very friendly and helpful in telling us about things to see in the area - room was small very clean furnished beautifully and in line with being in the heart of Zulu land. We really enjoyed it totally relaxing lovely pools and braai areas in the courtyard. The breakfast provided was also very nice and set you up for the day I would certainly recomend to friends.
