I liked the fact that my room was left alone. I put out the "do not disturb" notice. Too many times with hotels, they go in and change bedding and towels, daily. I stayed for three nights I didn't feel the need to change linen. The previous hotel I stayed in not only changed towels, they took away a partly used soap after one night. It would have easily lasted 2 more nights. I would return to Hotel XL, however, there are lots of other places one could stay at in Zandvoort. I have been visiting Zandvoort for more than 30 years and have stayed in many hotels and B & Bs. There are still many to try.
Only one thing I didn't like was the fact, one had to carry a bunch of keys with one of those large metal key fobs with the room number on. Other hotels I've stayed in, I've been able to take the fob off and just take the keys I need. The keys were padlocked to the fob, which meant more weight to carry about.
Very friendly personel.
The rooms are too small, especially the bathroom.
