  My friend g and I went to visit friends, in the 1st week of December over the double bank holidays. We have both been to Madrid before. G speaks some Spanish, I don'T.We booked separately. I had a single room + ensuite shower, washbasin but no toilet. He had a twin bed room with washbasin but no toilet or shower. WiFi in room was very welcome and unexpected in a small pension like this one. The hosts, husband and wife, spoke only Spanish but were very friendly and helpful. The decor of this pension is a jump back in time by at least 50 years, if you like that sort of thing (which I did).

  Very secure, friendly and helpful staff, very clean. We chose San Blas because of its location near Atocha station. Within easy reach of all main attractions. We would stay here again. I think people need to remind themselves how much they pay before writing reviews. If you want four star then you will pay a lot more.   The apartment I stayed in at #5 Villahermoso was clean and comfortable and centrally located. The staff was helpful to my every need, but were not at all intrusive. They were there if I needed them (a blown light bulb, etc.) and were not if I didn't. The sofa bed was "more comfortable than my bed back home" one of my friends commented. - The apartment was well situated and relativelly easy to find. the apartment was small but had everything in it that we needed. Air conditioning was good as the temperature was 35 degrees. The apartment was quiet and we couldn't hear the traffic or other residents.

  This hostel is located in a brilliant spot next to many bar restaurant and a lovely square , I have stayed in two other hostels in Madrid this was the quiter location it's clean and simple great for all types of people and the reception is 24 hours and they will look after your key for you, invade your scared if losing it.
