Though the room was very very small it really doesnt mind because in this hostel common places are the best I've always been.
There are a lof of showers for men and woman, they are clean and you are provided of shampoo and everything you need, even there is a room with a lot of hairdryers.
The breakfast is simple but enough, tea, bread, some bakery..and then you can eat or dinner in the kitchen with others travelers.
Staff are very very nice, they are very helpful and they sell bus pass, rent bi. todos opiniões »
very comfortable, affordable , I like the environment , and design of the building, where there is a special garden where smokers puff and not disturb the rest of the people. very well planned and well ventilated. most happy of all free nice breakfast and wifi on every floor. clean and well organized toilet, except I think you need proper signage of ladies and men's toilet coz many a time the men entered the wrong toilet coz there is one small signage on one side of the door, means sometimes.
first of all, this hostel is well designed and decorated(as you can see in the photos), then it has below advantages:
1) the reception speaks very good English
2) we were not aware that we need to use the public bathroom, but luckily it's very clean and you almost don't need to wait for long time
3) simple but delicious breakfast
4) super close to Kyoto station, only 5min walk i think
5) it is really comfortable to stay in this hostel(tho we didn't spend much time in it), as it has public bar, .
Everything was great. Easily the best hostel I've stayed in while travelling for the past 6 months. Highly recommend for any traveller, whether your going solo or with friends or family. Newly built with a lot of attention to the smallest details, great layout and outdoor spaces.
Beds in dormitory - unusually spacious. Curtains also provide privacy.
Staff: Genuine + very helpful...you'll mingle with the owner and not even know it. Everyone is very down to earth.
You won't regret staying here.
I loved the design of the hotel, very modern and fresh with concrete
floors and walls throughout. It had a great contrast to the plush and
ever-so comfortable beds, with the flat screen tv on the wall. The rooms
are small, but reasonably sized for Japan. Everything was clean, and
staff were absolutely lovely with an excellent grasp of English. One
kind staff member even helped me get a parcel redelivered to my home in
Hiroshima! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a reasonable
pric.
the stuff was very helpful, the ambiance was nice and clean, everything new and good functioning. Even though the room was not very big, the common spaces like bathroom, showers, kitchen were wide, clean and elegant. I felt great being there!the breakfast was also a nice welcome from the house, as an open buffet. the bikes were also in a very good condition and great to have them. the location was good, next to train station, with good transport connections, even though not very close to the fu.
The hostel opened just few month ago and all furniture is new. Very clear, helpful and nice staff. Located 2 minutes from Kyoto Station, the area is in walking distance to the best Kyoto areas. Full equipped kitchen and several services. I tried the double, the 4-shared and the 18-shared room because I planned to stay 4 nights there but at the end I decided to stay there because it was so lovely One of the best hostel I've ever been. Consider that it is more a boutique hostel than a backpackers.
Close to Kyoto Station, ie close to everything.
Amazing design, great common area with TV, big Kitchen, and spectacular outside area.
Super nice, friendly and helpful staff in everything.
You get breakfast that is a must to try and enjoy.
Great room with a TV (in case you don't speak Japanese, it will be a nice experience for your morning)
Very clean and you get a free towel with the bed.
Very much recommended, even if you are planning a short visit to Kobe, Nara, or Osaka, you can stay here.
I travelled to Kyoto with my girlfriend and found this hostel so amazing we made it our base and came back to it multiple times. It's proximity to the main station makes it ideal for trips away from Kyoto on early morning trains and the staff were more than happy to look after our bags. Rooms were really clean and comfortable as were the communal bathrooms and the rest of the hostel. Great vibe, great staff, great hostel, great location and most of all very good value for money.
This is a wonderful hostel. The large, comfortable beds have individual lamps and powerpoints, and curtains around them so you can have your privacy. Great showers, huge free breakfast (Japanese and European style), and there's everything you need, from laundry facilities to power adapters. I recommend hiring a bike for 500 yen a day to see the city. The staff are lovely, and were super helpful when my bus back to Tokyo was cancelled cause of a typhoon! Thanks heaps guys :).
This is the best hostel in my entire trip, although my friends do not like it so much, since it is too modernized and business environment. I stayed for two days in single room and two other days in female shared room, both experiences were good. Clean, organized, delicous free breakfast, and cute stuff. One of the guy is really cute. Also it is quite close to Kyoto station, which has a large area of shopping possibilities, and amazing lighting effect during night.
The hotel is clean and new, with cleaner to clean up mess. It is so considerate that there were even men and women's dressing rooms which are separated from bathroom. Hairdryers are in both toilet and dressing room, which is convinent particularly for people like me to come back late and have shower. The almost full set up for the self served kichen and spices, pots and pan , microwave and washing machines are meant to be convinient for everyone, great place!.
The hotel is very clean. Staff very friendly, patient and helpful. The location is close to Kyoto Station, very easy access to railway, subway and bus. Also there are some nearby touris spots worthy going. The loby at the first floor has a bar, and three imac computers, book shelf, sofa, and a very big kitchen and dinning room. The room is clean and nice, also the shower room is very clean. In a word, the hostel is fantastic for this price. Strongly recommend.
Everything. The design and feel of the hostel was amazing. Felt comfortable, as if I was at someone's well designed and modern home. The staff was amazing and very helpful. The commons area was relaxing and inviting. The rooms needed a little bit more storage space, maybe some shelving or side dresser area, but was good enough for the price. The showers were great and clean and shampoo/body wash included! Loved the bar feature. Complimentary flip flops.
I really love the design. You have all you'd ever need here. I
especially love the kitchen, the next time I will bring my own food to
cook here.
Staffs are very helpful with fluent English. The place is very cozy, enough bathrooms and toilets provided , incredibly clean and convenient. The environment allows you to enjoy talking with other guests. A great hostel experience. Most of all it's situated very close to the train station and shopping mall.
The location was excellent, even though it's not in the center of Kyoto the main train station in Kyoto is just two blocs away so you can go anywhere you want from that station.
The staff was very good, they recommended us a Soba Noodle restaurant that was amazing.
When you arrive at the hostel at night, everyone is downstairs talking to each other which is something different from every other hotel.
The showers are very clean and spacious.
I stayed at Piece hostel last month after my cousins excellent recommendation for places to stay in Kyoto. This was my first time staying at a hostel, as I usually stay in hotels, and I have to say that this beats the hotel experience by far. The staff were extremely helpful and polite, the environment was clean and contemporary, atmosphere was fun and jovial and overall it was a great place to stay at such an amazing price!.
New, clean and cosy hostel situated at a convenient location -- 5 minute's walk from Kyoto train and subway station. Its modern minimal interior gives a very comfortable atmosphere. Single rooms and dormitory beds are both good. A highlight that must not be missed is its free breakfast. Apart from a range of bread, my take is its yummy and energising rice with seaweed and salmon. Staff speak fluent English.

I loved the facilities and the staff provided fantastic family like and
friendly atmosphere. All spoke multiple languages (Japanese, English,
Chinese) and were brilliantly helpful in suggesting places to stay and
where to go. There was also the free breakfast, the free wifi, bar
(which had a fabulous happy hour for beer for ¥200 ad coffee) an amazing
design books and bikes for hire,.
- The staff were lovely, spoke excellent English.
- The double bed we had was very comfortable
- The showers were more than I expected, you get your own private room for each shower. I never had to wait to shower.
- Breakfast was always well stocked.
- The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly.
- Free wifi.
- Location was close to the station.
- Price!.
There are many things I like about piece hostel. It's near kyoto station. It's value for money -- it doesn't charge for towels which are supplied fresh every day. Its bed is wider than those at other hostels. The vanity area where we can sit down and blow dry our hair. And some staff are multi-lingual, speaking English, Mandarin and Japanese.
The hotel staff members were all super friendly, and their English
skills were excellent. I loved the open community space in the first
floor, the super comfortable beds, and the well-designed showers.
Location was also top-notch, since it's right by the main station in
Kyoto. Everything was terrific! I would definitely stay here again.

I fully recommend this hostel to all travellers.
Conveniently located near to Kyoto station, where you can travel to any
other places from the station. Room is clean, comfortable. Although its
a double decker, but you will have your own private space which each bed
come with curtain and a big size of bed. Breakfast is provided, Bathroom
and toilets are clean. Value for money!.
Walking distance from Kyoto station/ shinkansen station. abt 5mins walk. Very convenient to citybus terminal. Staff is very friendly, helpful and speaks good english. Safe for solo travellers especially ladies. highly recommended! the freee breakfast is ample and decent. I will definitely stay here again if i visit kyoto.
The staff was very friendly, with a perfect english, the hostel is brand
new so it's nice and cosy, there is two terraces and a free-for-use
kitchen, and the breakfast is include ! There is even a bar for taking a
drink on the sofa or while browsing the internet in one if the 3 free-for-
use mac. An impressive hostel !.
Most comfy beds ever. Shared showers were super clean and great to use (not stuffy like I'd read) - free body wash, shampoo and conditioner excellent quality. Own sink in double room. Good basic breakfast. Bar downstairs and good fast wifi. One of the best hostels we've stayed in after travelling 1.5 years non stop.
Very helpful, friendly staff. Good well equipped kitchen. Very clean throughout, good showers. The bed was comfortable. There is a bar in the hostel (but not too noisy). Very short walk to main train station (not only convenient for travel but also lots of bakeries and places to eat at the station).
Near Kyoto Station, the waiting room is very homey, equipped with free internet and wifi for guests, the room was very clean and comfortable, bathroom was very complete and clean, equipped with a pantry clean and complete. and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Hostel is very complete.
This place was amazing! Great main area, really friendly and helpful staff! The rooms were awesome, and spotless! overall the design of the space was beautiful and welcoming, a space that we wanted to come back to at the end of the day! The showers were so clean, you hardly knew they were shared!.
We stay 3 nights in the hostel's doulble room.Except the small room,
everything is fine. The staff is helpful and kind, always smiling. The
breakfast is simply but OK.They even have bathroom, that's the great
part.the hostel is very clean and cozy, very quiet in the room. The
location is also good.
The hostel is very charming, and is very well located - around 5 minutes
walking from Kyoto Station. The environment is great and it's
perfect specially for those travelling solo. There is Internet wi-fi all
around the place. If you don't mind sharing the bathroom, this
hostel is a great deal.
Absolutely great hostel! I think one of the best that I have ever stayed in. Clean, good breakfast provided (makes guests more friendly and promotes a "family" atmosphere). Great value for a young couple travelling on a budget. Amazing private room. Good location with easy transport links.
really great staff...super helpful. very friendly and all stylish and beautuful
the hostel itself is superb. like a five star hostel....a comment i got from review and cannot agree more!
also provide many double n single room.
love the design of the hostel...do not expect it from a hostel.
Coolest hostel in Japan. We stayed in many hostels and hotels around the country, and Piece Hostel was the absolute best. High point was the comfortable/large bed and soft pillows. Big individual showers, super clean, big common area, bbq area, kitchen area; everything you needed they had.
I was just looking for an inexpensive place to sleep, close to the hotel
where my friends were staying, and the Piece Hostel suited my needs
perfectly. I was much impressed, however, with the hostel's
cleanliness, comfort, and design. It perfectly suits the needs of the
budget traveler.
We stayed in 7 different hotels during our 15 days Japan trip, and Piece
Hostel is our favourite. It's clean, fresh, all staffs are English
fluent, nice contemporary designed interior, and its extremely near the
Kyoto Station. Very convenient and memorable stay. Definitely
recommended.
At the time I arrived the place was brand new, it worked like a hostel
but looked and like a good class hotel. Location was great, just a few
mins walk from the main station, but in a back alley, so you
couldn't hear the trains. But the best part was the staff, so lovely
and helpful.
I liked everything. Hostel is super clean, dormitory rooms design permit you to have your privacy, free Internet and free wifi, free towel Exchange, breakfast was excellent, really cheap bike rental , staff were really friendly.
The best hostel i have ever been, totally recomended.
Proximity to Kyoto Station and terminal for limousine bus to Kansai Airport.
Friendly and helpful staff. Friendly and homely environment though quite cramped. Shower rooms and toilets are clean and new. Has recommended family members to stay there in their coming trip to Kyoto.
Building and facilities are new and clean. Staff are friendly and try to be helpful. Can't find a better location in Kyoto and at a budget price! We had a private double with a queen size bed just across the hall from the bathroom (nice showers located on the ground floor).
Nice allround hostel with all facilities needed. The design and contruction of the rooms and the building are very modern and nicely done. Excellent wifi in the room. Good matresses as well.
Make sure you figure out how to get there beforehand. The place is somewhat hidden.
Looove our stay piece hostel. It was a small hostel but u got everything there. Very comfortable, clean, love the design. Wi-fi was quite fast. Location also very near to kyoto station. They also gave free breakfast! And it was good! Bread and various jam, n rice. Love it!.
The rooms are small and concrete, but they really added comfort with a new A/C unit and good beds in the room. The front desk staff speaks excellent English and I met travelers from all over the world. It is also only about 2 blocks from the main train station for Kyoto.
Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Room was minimal in design but clean and had everything a guest would need, including hairdryer.
Upstairs garden was really nice to chill in.
A great place for anyone that would be spending most of their time out and about in Kyoto.
this is a backpacker paradise.
they have everything travelers need ... comfortable bed
Wifi all area
cleanliness bathroom
and plus more .. e.g,
a very friendly english-speaking staff
and mini breakfast
FYI they have bicycle for rent
.. good way to explore Kyoto.
Best hostel stay ever!
I shared the room with 17 others, but I felt I had the best privacy ever -- they had curtains for each bed, locker facility and so on. Very new hostel -- so the place is clean, well designed and give out a great vibe.
Free breakfast!.
Great budget option. Excellent facilities, really clean, lovely staff. Convenient for the station (no idea why some reviewers found it difficult to find: we arrived by Shinkansen from Tokyo and could actually see the hostel from the station platform).
1) check in can be only made after 3pm, which is too late
2) room is a bit small, and only a bed and a lavabo/mirror in the room, which is a bit too "seems like a prison(my friend said!)", but thanks to these limited equipment, the bed is big enough for two:).
My other half was disappointed with the breakfast, as the coffee is
instant and the breakfast foods are distinctly Japanese, involving miso
soup and rice. There are pastries though, so it wasn't even a gripe
really- it's still a wonderful place to stay.
No social activities.
Showers are not right next to your bed... you have to go to the ground floor.
We didn't like leaving at all.
Check in time is at 3pm, a bit late. The electrical outlet was dangling near the bed, which I am not sure if it is safe enough to be like that, although it is convinient for users. The room for 8 females was too stuffy even with the window open, in late May.
Wish the room had more storage area, or maybe even just a side table next to the bed. I would recommend some floating shelves to save some space, as well as some wall hooks for hanging jackets and clothes.
I understand about the limitation of space and the concept of
minimalism, but I would prefer a small bedside table to put my laptop
on. And I'd prefer paper disposable slipper to be provided for each
room since there were not enough slippers provided when I arrived.
Since I've mostly stayed in hotels, the idea and experience of sleeping on bunk beds was a little uncomfortable. Piece hostel also offer private rooms, unfortunately I didn't get an opportunity to check those out. Maybe next time!.
That I couldn't stay longer!.
- Check it was rather late.
- The floors were a bit grim: just concrete floors.
- It rained one night and there was a vent in our room that echoed the sound of rain and kept us awake for a short while.
- No towels in the bathroom to dry hands after washing them.
- Towels for showering weren't replaced during our stay.
Every sound or noise fellow room mates in the dormitory make can be heard and may affect sleep at times.
Direction to the hostel privided on letsbookhotel.com could be better. It should have been "after getting out from Hachijo Exit, when you see Bell Mart, get out of the mall, turn left, wwalk towards the traffic junction, cross over the street diagonally. Walk about 50 m, when you see Hotel centnovum, turn right into the lane, walk about 50 m will see piece hostel.
If your room mates are afraid of cold temperature, it could be a bit
stuffy as the window in the room will be closed all night long.
Maybe because it's new, there is a lot of dust in the rooms and in
the toilets, it's annoying if you are sensitive to it.
Room was tiny but not a problem at all, had everything we needed.
Not much space in double bedroom (was fine for us but if staying for several days may feel cramped and cant put cloths anywhere other than keep in your luggage).
The room is too small. The bed is too soft, but it depends on your own
feelings about it.overall, I felt relax after a tiring day when I lay
down on the bed.
No room cleaning. Shared bathroom.
breakfast can start earlier.
if you live in dorm...be prepared you hear your neighbour snoorinf. nothing to do with the hostel but the nature of a dorm.
The sink in the room was a little unnecessary. I suppose a place to put our luggage would have made more sense, but really, it was fine.
If I have to complain about something, the travel directions on the
website made a weary old man walk an unnecessary 160 meters.
Having some shelves in the room would be useful, there is no place to
keep your stuff apart from the floor.
Room is too small. Pillow is too soft. The small lane from the main road to the hostel is not well lighted at night. Hostel signboard not bright.
Staff surprisingly know little abt tourist info for Kyoto.
We had a private twin room which was really small. No room to open my suitcase form example. Plenty of space in the hallway though :-).
They advertise an included breakfast, but I would just as soon skip it. The kitchen was jam-packed and the food was not very good.
The hostel is down a small, dark, alley, but it should be east to find if you take the first street to the left of the big hotel "El Inn".
Would've liked a bit more information about kitchen usage upon check-in, but didn't detract in anyway from the stay.
room is too small.
i wouldn't mind to pay a more for a little bigger room
and also would love a ensuit bathroom choice. if they have an option.
Nothing.
The rooms really are very small, even by hostel standards. But then again it is budget accommodation, so corners have to be cut somewhere. WiFi was patchy. Not a big deal though, since there are three big desktops available for use in the lobby.
