  The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect, very close to the subway, and perhaps 15 minutes walk to the train station. The street is calm and full of restaurants and shops, though not loud or late open. It's situated close to a park and the Alsterlake. The breakfast was lovely (home style), and the japanese couple running the hotel (?) adorable. We got - Good location of the hotel. The hotel staff tries to maintain the purity, cleaning and change of towels every day, all disinfected. Breakfast, of course, simple, in particular, for those who like variety, but everything is fresh. Table neatly arranged. One of the advantages of the hotel is the absence of noise.

  Very chic hotel with fancy decoration - only paid 105 € a night for a single room in august 2008 - quite cheap - chic area with nice boutiques and restaurant plus near to Alster Lake - Gorgeous view from our room over the breakfast patio.   I had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Am Rothenbaum. The hotel is in an attractive neighborhood and right opposite the Hallerstrasse subway station, which is one stop from the Dammtor regional train station (much nicer than the Hauptbahnhof main station in Hamburg). One can easily walk to Dammtor. The hotel is modern, clean and comfortable. The breakfast, for an extra fee of 10 Eu - 100% friendly and helpful staff. The location is the best - close to the metro station, a supermarket, multiple cafes and restaurants around. Wi Fi working fast and really everywhere at the hotel. A complimentary glass of wine upon arrival was a nice surprise.
