Really nice appartment in Zollverein, a suburb of Essen. We only used it as a place to crash between to days on the road. -
Very easy place to stay.
Parking was over the road in free car park and tram was 30 seconds from apartment. -
Just opposite to the ruhr museum and in the city centre this is the best
hotel I got during my Europe tour.

This was a very nice "Hotel Garni" on the outskirts of Essen. It was surrounded by nice countryside, an equestrian center, tennis courts, and a nearby river. Gasthaus Nordstern is a very friendly, very welcoming location. The rooms are big enough, well equipped, clean and comfortable. Shower cabins in the room is a little bit awkward, but you can use the private ones down the hall. A big plus for the WiFi. It works great and it's free. The host speaks perfect English. The Acic family are lovely, I was arriving after midnight, so they gave me the code to the night entrance when I phoned.
