We loved getting to know the History of the place which we roughly knew, but the posters and billboards provided us with lots of conversation over Dinner. Mind you the mian purpose was to enjoy one anothers company and to make contact after many years. It was perfect! the food good and the service friendly and very efficient. Staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Vicky on the reception desk. The food was well cooked from a small but interesting menu - even the plates were warm, surely an unusual occurrence in Australia.

Unexpected requirement of $100 deposit plus a "credit card surcharge" on my card, which is a debit card. I get very tired of this sort of gouging, and I had explained when I checked in that eftpos was possible with this card. I have no complaints. I got more than I paid for. Pity the restaurant and bar aren't open on the weekends, but I guess it's generally pretty quiet usually (hotel full on this weekend). One teaspoon hadn't been properly cleaned and had a small area encrusted with coffee and sugar crystals. If you want a TV. You won't get one. No complaints ... but perhaps a small refridgerator in the room would have come in handy. You get what you pay for. Budget rooms are cheap an nasty. No thermostat control on the aircon/heating, only options were on or off. nothing. Not much. The fire evacuation on Friday 27 Sept but that was not the fault of the hotel or its staff. No food availability on Sat night. Breakfast looked dull & uninteresting. early dining room closure (no room service after 8:30pm no dining room breakfast on weekends. No information in my room - times at the restaurant etc. Shopping , taxi etc. D. Can't believe that in August in Canberra the dining room could be so cold. Patrons had coats on and rugs over knees. Staff we complaining about the cold. WIFI just Ok!. I stayed in room 150 on thurs 8/8 and fri 9/8 (last week) water in the hot tap flowed but never became hot! I therefore had to shower briefly under cold water. I waited for about 5 minutes for the water temp to rise but it did not. could hear the conversation in the next room...and they were not really talking loudly. needs a bit of a make over. Limited catering services. Closed restaurant one evening. Kettles that never fit under the basin taps. No lift for heavy luggage. Stairs. Coffee was not hot. If there is to be no hot food service on weekends more food options in the room. Small bathroom, faulty light in bathroom. No restaurant facilities at the weekend, although a short walk to Manuka was enjoyable for dining and shop browsing. No breakfast on the weekend. Nothing. All okay. Although our booking was prepaid, I still had to swipe my credit card for the amount $229.00 for incidentals, hey my wife and I are in our mid sixties. Air conditioning not working. The need to pay $7.50 a night for parking assuming there are any spots left. No TV, microwave or sink to fill up kettle in the room I stayed in. The bed was creaky due to cheap quality.
